We are saddened to report the passing of legendary auctioneer, Alan Parker, of Plant City, Florida. Parker started in the auction business in the 1950s and then went on to form his own auction company in the late 1960s. Alan was one of the top horse auctioneers in the industry including running the sales at the All American Quarter Horse Congress and Tattersalls for over 20 years.
“I was around him regularly as a kid growing up and he always knew who I was and always had words of wisdom for me when I asked. I looked up to Alan,” Kristen Massaro stated. “He could tell you exactly how to sell a horse and it would work every time.”
Massaro adds, “What a sad day for our horse community. He was one of the best horsemen I have ever had the privilege to know. I spent my childhood at nearly every sale he put on. He is by far and away the best auctioneer I have ever known – who else could say they dropped the gavel on Zippo Award at $165,000, Coosa Lad at $262,000, Flashy Zipper at $400,000 and the incomparable Invitation Only at $2,350,000. Rest in peace and ride on cowboy.”
We will update everyone on his funeral arrangements when they become available.
