———————————-
We are heartbroken to report that another legendary horseman has passed away. John Hoyt is a name known throughout the entire horse industry. He influenced many of the today’s top riders. In his late eighties, he passes leaving a lasting impression on many.
“He forgot more than most of us will ever know,” fellow horseman Sandy Jirkovsky posted on her Facebook page. “Rest In Peace John Hoyt and thanks for all you gave to the horse industry. A true legend and a great horseman.”
Up until 2003, John was still actively riding and teaching the professionals of the future. After a failed knee surgery, he was left with a medical condition called ‘dropped foot’, which resulted in nerve damage and consequently left him unable to ride.
Since then, his health has continually declined and left him in an economic struggle. In March of 2015, horsemen came together and raised funds to buy him a modular home and furnishings.
We would like to send our condolences to all of John’s family and friends. We will update you later with more information regarding funeral arrangements.
