The stands were full in the Congress Coliseum on Monday morning as the big boys came out in full force, all with one goal on their minds; to walk away with the prestigious Grand Champion Stallion title. When all was said and done, that title went to PF Premo and Dewey Smith for owner JL Robinson Quarter Horses.
Earlier in the morning, PF Premo was named the unanimous winner in the Aged Stallions. PF Premo, a 2011 chestnut stallion, is a six-time AQHA World Champion, four-time Congress Grand Champion, and six-time Congress Champion.
“Conformation, body and mind, Premo has it all,” Dewey Smith, who has shown Premo since he was a yearling, told us.
JL Robinson bought Premo in July from Bushy Park Farms. “The second I found out he was for sale I knew I had to have him so I made a phone call and bought him right away,” JL Robinson said. “Premo is one of the best-minded studs I have ever been around.”
The next stop for Premo is the AQHA World Show where he and Dewey Smith will enter the Gateway Of Champions for one last time to try to win their seventh AQHA World Champion trophy. After the AQHA World Show, Premo will officially be retired to the Smith’s breeding barn in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
“We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for Premo’s babies,” JL Robinson said.
Good Luck to Premo and Dewey Smith at the AQHA World Show.
