The award will be presented annually at the APHA Convention; in 2017, the Convention takes place February 24–27 in Irving, Texas.

Nominations for the Paint Professional Horsemen of the Year award are due November 20 for evaluation by the Professional Horseman’s Committee. Nominees will be judged on accomplishments and merit. “We are excited to unveil the inaugural Paint Professional Horsemen of the Year award at the 2017 APHA Convention,” APHA Director of Judges Dave Dellin said. “Our goal with this award is to recognize a deserving member of the Markel APHA Professional Horsemen program and, in doing so, continue to grow the program in the future.”
