Paige Wacker Reports from AQHYA World Show

Hi, I’m Paige Wacker from Hutchinson, Minnesota and I’m in Oklahoma City for my final Youth World. I’ve had a blast all summer as an Intern for GoHorseShow and this week I’ll be bringing you fun reports from all angles of the show.

While in Oklahoma City, I’ll be showing three horses, Ima Moxie Man (Frog) in Showmanship, Executee (Cutie) in 3 Year Old Mares and Aint No Tellin (Prince) in the Yearling Geldings.

The first day of competition was Friday and I had the chance to talk to Paulina Martz who lead her horse OnlytheBestChocolate to their third World Championship in Performance Halter Mares!

Onlythebestchocolate, better known as “Hershey” also shows in the pleasure with Paulina under the guidance of Judd Paul. Paulina said that “Hershey is one of the sweetest horses I’ve had the pleasure of showing, and that’s very apparent to everyone who meets her. Hershey and I won the Performance Halter Mares for the first time in 2013 and that’s a moment I’ll never forget.”

After her big win today, Paulina said Hershey will get lots of peppermints and love from everyone, but, “What she’s probably most happy about is plenty of nap time.”

She said, “It’s a very silly superstition but every time before I show at a big show like the Congress or the World Show I take a picture of my boots with the caption ‘show day’. For some reason, I did that before my first World Show win and it feels wrong to not do it now. I also always listen to music to get myself focused.

Congratulations again to Paulina and Hershey!

Other winners from Friday include Calley Huston with Intoxicating in Aged Geldings and Cooper Dobbs showing Mytesly in Performance Halter Geldings.
