Pre-med student Darian Sullivan was giddy as she accepted her prizes from the 2016 AQHA Farnam Central Level 1 Championship Show.
The Farnam All-Around Amateur from Hartsville, Tennessee is just in her second year of riding competitively.
“I just wanted to have some good rides because we’re trying to progress in the all-around classes,” she said.
Darian’s partner for the Farnam Central was IE Thumptin Special, a 2009 bay gelding by Iron Enterprise and out of Me Thumptin Special by WF Two Thumbs Up.
“He’s pretty curious. He has a funny personality,” Darian said. “He’s usually a good boy. We get along great.”
Darian and “Cason” ride at least three times a week with AQHA Professional Horsewoman Karen Evans Mundy between classes at Vanderbilt University. Her goal this year was to better last year’s outing, when Cason came up sore and didn’t get to compete in some classes.
“This year, we wanted to do better in hunter under saddle and eq, which are the classes we didn’t get to show in last year,” Darian said. “We won eq, and we were reserve in hunter under saddle.”
The all-around winners at Farnam Central received a Professional’s Choice saddle pad, a Montana Silversmiths belt buckle and a trophy.
