Deanna Green’s Final Picture of the Day from 2015 Quarter Horse Congress

Hey y’all, I’m Deanna Green of Pilot Point, Texas reporting from Columbus, Ohio at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. I’m blessed to be here with my family, my horse trainer, Brad Jewett, and my wonderful ponies. I’m showing my palomino mare, Blazinmytroublesaway, in the 15-18 all around events and my bay mare, Bestseatnthehouse, in the western pleasure. We wish everyone the best of luck and hope everyone has fun. It’s always a good time at the Congress. Let’s get this party started!

Final Picture of the Day – October 24, 2015

As the Congress comes to a close, I realize how blessed I am to be a part of the Capital family. We will stick together through thick and thin, and I am happy to say that this Congress was one of the best yet. Every single one of you guys plays a part in the success I have been lucky enough to have. Dad and Katie, you guys are two of the most hard working and talented people, and I pray every day that I can be more like y’all. Sue, Hillary, and Blair – you guys are the most giving and thoughtful people I’ve ever met. I love all of you guys. Next stop, AQHA World Show.

Two days left of the Congress and people are starting to pack up! Shannon Curl being one of them. She’s not letting the fact that she can’t pull her trailer up, effect her getting out of here. Wish everyone the best as they start driving home and as they finish up the show!

Two weeks into Congress and by now everyone has been at the the show a little longer than they have probably wanted to be. Gotta get your sleep in whenever you can and wherever you can. Pictured here are our bulldogs, Gertie and Gunner, who have made too many trips to the Korean taco truck.

It’s been a long road for Alberta Bettie Walker, the mother of Dawn Welker Shafer and Carmen Welker Confrancesco. Alberta has worked hard to get to show again at the Congress. The 68 year-old has a new knee and a new hip and has been recuperating with the desire to make it back to show at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. She did just that on Monday and placed in the Top 15 in the halter under the supervision of Monte Horn. We are all excited to see her back in the show ring!

It was team tournament day at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. Crazy day for all the youth kids involved. Ellexxah Maxwell kicked the day off by unanimously winning the showmanship. Later in the day, Benjamin Beckett, Olivia Tordoff, Ashton Kritulis, Colin Robertson, and myself were all crowned champions in various events. Congratulations to everyone who participated. Also, it was a very good day for my barn. Matthew Labrie and I were champion and reserve champion in the NYATT Western Pleasure and Lauren Love was champion in the Limited Non Pro Three Year-Old Western Pleasure. Congrats everyone!

G Unit gets it done tonight. Gregory Johnson and Good Like Jagger were Reserve Congress Champions in the Limited Open Two Year-Old Western Pleasure. So “cool” to see someone who works their butt off day in and day out to succeed in the show pen. Keep doing what you’re doing Greg!

This is the most precious picture we’ve had so far. Pictured here is proud wife, Jamie and her daughter after her husband, Tate Oakley won the Limited Open Western Pleasure Maturity aboard Flashy Looking Touch. Previously in the week  Jamie was fifth in a very tough Limited Non Pro Maturity Western Pleasure Class. This family warms my heart.

My two homie G’s had an amazing English day! Natalia Devencenty won her first Congress Championship in the 15-18 Youth Equitation. There is
no one more deserving than her! And my best friend, Taylor Searles won the Southern Belle Three year-old Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle. So proud of you guys. I’m so blessed to have such awesome and talented friends. Don’t want to take all of the credit, but I taught them everything they know. Way to keep those heels down!

Congratulations to a very happy horse show family and Doodle Jump on their second consecutive win in the Junior Hunter Under Saddle at the Congress. Afterwards, I caught up with world champion, Jenna Jacobs, to discuss the win, “It’s such a cool feeling for Doodle to win such a steep open class. I’m so blessed to have such a great team behind me.” Also, late last night, Doodle Jump and Heidi Piper won the Open Limited Hunter Under Saddle Maturity. Keep killing it you guys! Hopefully the weather continues to cooperate preparing for youth weekend.

A little bit of girl power today at the Congress! Deanna Searles aboard Heza Radical Zip scored a 233 to win a reserve championship title in the Senior Western Riding. Also congratulations to Leslie Lange on her Top 5 finish on The Immortal. Earlier in the week, she earned a Congress Championship in the Senior Ranch Riding. You guys inspire me!

We are all set up and settled in Columbus, Ohio for the next two weeks. The weather is beautiful and the Buckeye football team won on Saturday so there are a lot of very happy Ohioans here at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. This past weekend also marked the first of the EWD riders’ events here at the Congress, and it was definitely a success. Congratulations to all who participated. The prelims of the non pro maturity run tonight, kicking off the first of the western pleasure classes for the show. Good luck to everyone!
