GoHorseShow reader and AQHA competitor Melinda Mayes has asked us for some prayers for her beloved horse, Almosta Boom, who is fighting for his life. We have enclosed her request below and send get well wishes her way.
Update September 17th
From Melissa:
Thank you so much for all of the prayers and support. Unfortunately we had to put Little Al down tonight.
We bid farewell to Little Al as he slides into heaven to enjoy endless green grass, chase fresh cows and to change leads until his heart’s content.
Thanks so much,
Melinda

From Melissa:
Hi everyone. My name is Melinda Mayes-Kelly and my husband, Robbie and I reside in Weatherford,Texas. I used to show all-around. Almosta Boom and I earned an AQHA Superior in Amateur Horsemanship, and we also qualified for the AQHA World Show twice in horsemanship.
Since he’s actually a cowhorse/rope horse by trade, we have migrated back to the roping pen and most recently have been showing in the Versatility Ranch Horse classes. We are qualified this year for the AQHA World Show in Ranch Riding and the AQHA VRH championship show in multiple classes.
I am writing today, because “Little Al” needs your prayers and support, because he is battling salmonella. Since getting sick Labor Day weekend, he has had ups and downs, but since last Sunday it’s been mostly bad news. Its very touch and go if he’s going to make it. Please keep him in your thoughts.
He is so important to our family. We just can’t imagine losing him. He’s been in our family more than ten years, and I share a very special bond with him. He’s a once in a lifetime horse for me…
Thank you for your caring,
Melinda Mayes-Kelly
