Fallen Horseman Memorial Horse Show Set To Begin on Saturday

The Fallen Horseman Memorial Horse Show is scheduled for September 5-7 in Springfield, Ohio. This all-breed open horse show features an array of classes for riders of all ages and levels of experience. A prize list is available on the organization’s website.

Highlights of the show include more than 20 added-money classes as well as the Rod’s Western Palace Versatility Classic, a Calcutta-style egg-and-spoon class, and a horsemanship class open only to trainers. The winner of the trainer’s horsemanship class will be presented with a pair of spurs.

The Fallen Horseman Memorial Horse Show began five years ago when horsemen and horsewomen of the Miami Valley of Ohio sought a way to honor the rich history of horsemanship that had paved the way for today’s equestrians. Organization of the event is spearheaded by Tammy Denlinger-Lickliter. Sponsorships are gathered in the names of heroes—past trainers, parents, veterinarians, farriers—and that money is then passed on to exhibitors. Corporate sponsors include Coughlin Automotive and Krugh Insurance. More than 80 sponsorships have been gathered for the upcoming show.

In addition to prize money, donations have been made to various organizations over the years, including the Tough Enough to Wear Pink event that benefits The Stephanie Spielman Breast Cancer Foundation. Charities set to benefit from this year’s event include Lope for Hope and River of Hope.
