Bailey Anderson’s Picture of the Day from AQHYA World Show

Hi! My name is Bailey Anderson and I am from Millsap, Texas. I’m here in Oklahoma City at my last Youth World with my horse, Zippos Kat Man Do or better know as Teddy. I’ll be busy showing in the trail, horsemanship, showmanship, and equitation.

I ride with Terry Cross and Stephen Stephens and have been with them for 12 years now. We’ve been preparing all year for this show and I can’t wait to get in the Jim Norick Arena with Teddy to show. I look forward to seeing everyone and best of luck to you all.

Pictured together is multiple AQHYA World Champion Deanna Green with her very proud dad, Rusty. These two are the perfect father-daughter duo. Deanna is following her dad’s winning footsteps and is heading home to Texas with two gold trophies from the 2015 AQHYA World Show. For the second year in a row,  Deanna won the Western Riding on her gorgeous palomino mare Blazinmytroublesaway, fondly known as “Buttercup” and today she won the Western Pleasure on Bestseatnthehouse with four firsts. Congratulations to all! Brad Jewett helps Deanna and Buttercup in the all around events and says it has been great to see Rusty in dad mode this week getting to watch his daughter show. Horse showing takes a lot of time and we are all very lucky to have our supportive parents by our side. It would be almost impossible to do this without them!

For my picture of the day, I have a picture of Rachael Tearney, her gorgeous black gelding Midnite Invitation and her trainer, Melissa Jones preparing for the semi-finals in the equitation. She’s had a great show as was top-10 in the horsemanship for the first time at the Youth World and made the finals in the equitation which go Thursday. After this show, she is on her way to college in Kansas, but don’t worry she will continue to show her hunter and all-around horse. I can’t wait to watch her in her future. Today is the beginning of the end for all of us that show in the all-around events. We’re moving out and the reiners and the cattle people are moving in!

My picture of the day represents what all of us experience during our show career- friendship. Pictured hugging me is Avery Ellis after we both showed in the horsemanship finals today. Today was a very emotional day as we showed in our last horsemanship class as youth. As my good friend Rachel Kolb recently said, “Ribbons fade, trophies collect dust, people forget, but friendships can never be replaced.” All of my closest friends are those that I have made in the horse industry and I know they will last a lifetime. We all have our ups and downs in the show pen, but it’s nice to know that our friends and family are waiting for us outside.

Monday, August 3rd, 2015 Day #5

owenMy picture of the day is of one of my favorite horses to watch as he is so beautiful and would make a great all-around horse. Maybe some day he will add the all around events, but first stop is the western pleasure finals on Thursday with his owner, Virginia Owen, pictured here with her parents. It was another full day of prelims today at the Youth World, including western pleasure, ranch riding and showmanship. I’m excited to say that I’ll be in the showmanship finals tomorrow. The competition here has been very tough in all events, whether it is a pattern class, rail class, or the new popular ranch riding. The show has run very smooth; in fact, ahead of schedule. I know we all appreciate that, as it gives us more time to prepare for the next day’s events. Speaking of which, I better run now so I can ride, nap, ride and get ready for my two finals events tomorrow. Best of luck to everyone!

My picture of the day is with my new friend, Charylet Lee from La Joya, Texas. The barns were busy today with half the group getting ready for trail alongside the other half preparing for the speed events. Charlylet competed in poles, barrels and the stakes race on her 24 year-old Quarter Horse. Over in the trail pen, it took a score of 221 to make the shootout and there are 23 headed to the finals on Wednesday. Tonight, after the Ranch Riding clinic, the Parade of States will be in the coliseum. Everyone always has a blast walking in with their teams. Rest assured, as soon as the parade is over, the showmanship, ranch riding, and western pleasure horses will be out practicing. I know I will be. Also, a personal shout out to my trainer, Terry Cross, who celebrated his birthday today. I was the first to wish him Happy Birthday, as we were riding at midnight. Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

A horse came “out of nowhere” to win the prelims of the Western Riding yesterday with a 226. Turns out it is a horse that was shipped to the United States three weeks ago all the way from Italy. The duo stayed at Highpoint Performance Horses to prepare for the World Show. Italian trainer, Matteo Sala, is helping Moa Berglund of Sweden and Grey Asset, who captured the bronze trophy in a very competitive Western Riding finals class with a score of 228.5. Deanna Green and Taylor Searles were World and Reserve World champions with scores of 232 and 230, respectively. Congratulations to Deanna Green on winning this class for the second year in a row.

The very first AQHYA World Champion of 2015 was awarded today! Paulina Martz and her mare, Onlythebestchocolate won the Performance Halter Mares. Sammie Johnson won a bronze trophy in the Performance Halter Geldings with Flashy Invite. Both train with Judd and Jennifer Paul. How cool for them to be going home with two globes from the first two classes of the Youth World. Personally, I was pretty excited for Sammie, my roommate and fellow teammate at UGA. Also going on today was the western riding prelims and hunter hack prelims. The competition was stout, taking a 217.5 to make it to the finals of the western riding. The next 15 horses went to a shootout round, with the top five making the finals. Check the AQHA website for a list of finalists in both western riding and hunter hack. Also, RPL My Te Cheerful and Kaylee Hamm were the unanimous winners in the Aged Geldings…again! This is Henry’s 20th World Champion title and the fourth time he and Hamm have won this class. Pretty incredible!

Thursday, July 30th–Picture of the Day #1pod bailey anderson

My first picture of the day signifies everyone getting ready for the Youth World. It’s all about the details. Looking good is part of feeling good and helps you exude confidence.

One thing us girls like to do, especially before a big show, is get our nails done. Everyone has a different style when it comes to nails; some like to keep it simple and just do a French tip, while some will throw some sparkles in. This year, I did something unique with mine to represent my horse, Teddy. On my ring finger, I got a teddy bear painted on. Here at the Team Texas stalls, I found several different styles. Guess who each hand belongs to. Featured in the picture is Jordan Davis, Avery Ellis, Ashley Sioco, and Cara Beauvais. Good luck to everyone this week!
