Mary Meneely Named Auburn Western Coach

AUBURN, Ala. — Mary Meneely has been named the Western coach for the Auburn equestrian program, head coach Greg Williams announced.

“I am so excited to have Coach Meneely head up our Western program,” Williams said. “Coach Meneely shares many of the same philosophies that Coach Jessica Braswell and I do, not only on coaching in the arena but in empowering young women during their collegiate career. Coach Meneely is, without a doubt, one of the best coaches in the country and we are fortunate to have her at Auburn University and part of the Auburn Family. Coach Meneely and Coach Braswell will forge a great partnership that will create many wins and championships in Auburn’s future.”

In March of 2013, Meneely was named the associate head coach of the Georgia equestrian program, and was a member of the Georgia equestrian coaching staff since April 2010. Meneely was named an assistant coach for Georgia’s Western riding corps in June of 2010.

Since the 2011-12 season, Meneely led the Western team to an impressive 65-26-17 record, including a 37-12-5 mark in Horsemanship and a 28-14-12 record in Reining. Meneely helped lead the Bulldogs to two National Championships, and three Reserve National Championships.

Under her guidance in 2014, three Western riders earned spots as NCEA All-Americans, as well as picking up the NCEA Western MVP in Reining and SEC Rider of the Year.

Meneely owns and operates Meneely Show Horses, Ltd., of Conyers, Ga., along with her husband Rob. They have produced over 500 World and National Championships in both Western and Hunt Seat.

Meneely has handled all aspects of the business, including recruitment and training of show riders, selection and training of horses, sales and marketing of the business, farm management, and custom design of show clothes. She and her husband Rob have traveled the world providing clinics, training and competing.

For three years (1996-99) Meneely developed and taught equestrian courses at Georgia Perimeter College in Conyers.

A native of Washington, Meneely started her own equine coaching and training business while attending the University of Washington. She then completed her undergraduate studies from American InterContinental University.

Meneely is married to Robert Meneely and the couple has two sons, Ryan and Michael. Ryan will be playing football for the Tigers in the fall.
