About the Cover

Cecilia Hylton and Hylton Quarter Horses are off to a fresh start in 2015. With their new trainer, Lucas Cash, and a renewed excitement about their breeding program, the family is looking to make their mark in the show arena with their homebred horses including To Sleepy To Sparkle and Doya Think Im Flashy.

After a short break from showing, Cecilia’s daughter, Jamie Hylton, is making a comeback in the show arena with several horses including Gettin Pretty, U Know U Wanna Watch and To Sleepy To Sparkle. “We always concentrate on having fun,” Jamie says. “It’s not about the winning for us.”

Cash adds, “My main goal this year is to do well on our homebred prospects at the major futurities. Cecilia is known for her desire to not push the young horses. With the growing popularity of the maiden classes including the Hylton Maiden 3 & Over Class, I think her being an advocate for these classes has had a positive effect on our industry.”

The two GoMag cover boys are perfect examples of Hylton bred horses who have been put into jobs they enjoy. To Sleepy To Sparkle is by Too Sleepy To Zip and out of Hylton mare, Impulse To Sparkle. Last year, Jamie and Sparky placed Top 10 in the Performance Halter Geldings at the Novice East Championship Show.

Doya Think Im Flashy is a true test tube baby due to both parents being deceased. His sire is the late Flashy Zipper and out of Widow Rider. The stallion is currently being campaigned in the Ranch Riding and Performance Halter Stallions by Will Knabenshue. He was the 2013 High Point Junior Ranch Horse Pleasure Champion and is currently standing to the public.

“He’s one of my favorite horses to ride,” Will states. “He is so good minded and doesn’t act like a stallion at all. He came back from the breeding shed and I got on him and he acted like he had never left. I look forward to seeing his first foal crop in 2016.”

We wish Hylton Quarter Horses a great 2015! Watch for a more in depth feature about them later this month.
