Featured on the November World Show cover of GoMag is Congress and NSBA World Champion, Hot Lopin Goodbar (Dolly). The 2010 sorrel mare is by Zippos Mr Good Bar and out of Congress Champion, 2005 NSBA Horse of the Year and top producing dam, Hot Lopin Louise. Owner Alexandra Chavez of Paradise Valley, Arizona is excited to be presenting the mare at the AQHA World Show in the Junior Pleasure with Katie Green in the saddle.
Chavez and Rusty Green Quarter Horses just returned from an outstanding Congress. Alex and Dolly were Reserve Congress Champions in Limited NSBA Maturity Non Pro Western Pleasure and fifth in Amateur Pleasure, while Katie Green showed her to fourth place in both Junior and Maturity Open Western Pleasure.
“Dolly was such a star at the Congress this year,” Chavez states. “She is a really sweet mare that can’t say no. She is very easy going and doesn’t require much preparation. She is also very pretty and so smooth to ride. She loves her job and knows how to do it well.”
Last year, former owner, Cathy Starnes and Dolly were Congress Champions in Three Year-Old Limited Non Pro Pleasure and Reserve Congress Champions in Green Pleasure with Brian Rastall.
“Katie has always loved this mare and tried to get Cathy Starnes to sell her ever since she saw her as a three year-old,” Chavez reveals. “Katie finally talked Cathy into selling her earlier this year. Katie just told me she had bought me a horse before I even had a chance to ride her–but she was right about her and I instantly fell in love.”
Earlier this year, the mare was the NSBA World Champion in Junior Pleasure with Katie Green and Reserve NSBA World Champion in Amateur Pleasure, Reserve NSBA World Champion in BCF 4-6 Year-Old Non Pro Pleasure, and NSBA World Champion in the Intermediate 4-6 Year-Old Non Pro Pleasure with Alex.
