City, August 1-9, the NSBA World Show in Tulsa, August 9-17, the European Championships in Germany, August 9-17 and the AQHA
Select World in Amarillo, August 22-30, trainers, owners, exhibitors and
vendors are going to be extremely busy.

The August 2014 issue of GoMag
is filled with the leaders of the industry as they set out to conquer World
Show Month. We wish all of them the very best of luck in their pursuit of highly-coveted Championship titles.

About The Cover

Select Amateur Kathy Tobin of Scottsdale, Arizona has an impressive lineup of horses going into the major summer and fall shows. Tobin is looking forward to defending her 2013 AQHA Select Amateur and NSBA World Championships in the Western Riding with her horse, More Radical (Rodney).

“Rodney is such a sweet horse,” Tobin fondly says about her bay gelding by Radical Rodder. “He tries to do a great job. I do feel some pressure in doing well in the Western Riding because of having won last year at the NSBA World and Select World. I’ll try hard again this year, but I’m grateful for any placing I can get because the competition is so tough.”

Tobin also has a new horse for this year, 2011 Congress Junior Trail Champion, RA Undisputed (Coco). Coco has carried Kathy to the Trail and Horsemanship Circuits in Select at the Sun Circuit, Silver Dollar, Sun & Surf and Oregon Summer Classic. “Coco is an amazing horse,” Tobin states. “I just have to sit there and he seems to read my mind and respond so willingly with whatever I ask of him.”

Her last mount for the year is Blameitonthe Alcohol (Lucky). Lucky is a home grown three year-old by Tobin’s stud, Allocate Your Assets. Tobin is looking forward to showing him at the NSBA World Show. After only showing him once before, Tobin and Lucky won a three and four year-old futurity at the Sun & Surf Circuit.

“Lucky is so kind and loving. He looks so much like his daddy that he could almost be a clone,” Tobin says. “I’m looking forward to showing him at NSBA World and Congress later in October. His mind and his size are perfect for me.”

“I feel like I’ve almost ‘turned the corner’ with my horses. I’m getting more consistent; I still have my moments, but at least the good goes outweigh the bad ones for once,” Kathy says and laughs.

We wish Kathy and her trainers, Jim and Deanna Searles, the best of luck with all of her horses at the NSBA World, AQHA Select Amateur World Show, and Congress.
