APHA Welcomes Mike Short to Executive Committee

At the 2014 APHA Convention, the Board of Directors, hailing from around the country, voted Mike Short to the APHA Executive Committee as the Sixth Committee Member.

From Edmond, Oklahoma, Mike has served as a National Director since 1995. He has been a member and leader of the Oklahoma Paint Horse Club, Empire State Paint Horse Club, Gulf Coast Paint Horse Club and Texas Paint Horse Club.

From his vast and varied experience, more of which can be found here, Mike says he feels ready to take on this role of leadership for the association.

“When I started my working career, the gentleman I worked for, who owned the company, thought that if I was going to be totally efficient for that company, I needed to work in every department every area. So I did. I was not very handy with an 18-wheeler, but I mastered it,” Mike said at the APHA Convention. “When I look around this room, I have to say almost everyone in this room—members, staff of the association—has put time and effort into educating me, helping me get knowledge and understanding of the association.

“I stand in front of you feeling very confident, very prepared to be very efficient for you and everyone in the association.”

With the addition of Mike marks the shift of the Executive Committee, which now stands as follows (as shown from left to right in the photo):

  • President: Mary Parrott, Ruston, Louisiana
  • President-Elect: Ron Shelly, Georgetown, Texas
  • Vice President: Susie Shaw, Parsons, Tennessee
  • Senior Committee Member: George Ready, Hernando, Mississippi
  • Fifth Committee Member: Dr. Craig Wood, Owenton, Kentucky
  • Sixth Committee Member: Mike Short, Edmond, Oklahoma
  • Immediate Past President: Gregg Reisinger, Eldora, Iowa
