MARTIN, Tenn. – Carli Pitts and Austin Brewer have inked National Letters of Intent to join the University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian team next season. Both riders will compete in Western horsemanship as freshmen beginning in the 2014-15 season.
An Evansville, Ind. native, Pitts is currently enrolled at Emerson Preparatory School and brings a wealth of accolades to the Skyhawk program. She was the 2009 AQHYA world champion and was also a multiple Congress champion (2011, 2013). She won the AQHA Year-End Youth Western Pleasure, Youth Ranch Pleasure and Youth Performance Geldings. She also placed third in Youth All-Around and fifth in Youth Western Horsemanship.
Brewer, who hails from Nampa, Idaho, currently attends Another Choice Virtual Charter School and has been riding competitively since the age of five. She offers a diverse riding background stemming from the Hunter Jumper ring showing ponies to the AQHA and ABRA World Show stage in the all-around events. She posted several Mini Medal victories and was named a unanimous 2013 ABRA world champion in Youth 14-18 Horsemanship. She also won ABRA World Show Reserve All-Around Youth and posted top-five finishes in the AQHA 2013 Novice Championships West and in the Arizona Sun Circuit Youth 14-18 Hunt Seat Equitation.
Pitts and Brewer join Hunter Seat riders Reiley Wilson (Traverse City, Mich.), Sarah Martinage (Odessa, Fla.), Mia Bray (Indio, Calif.) and Samantha Hill (San Diego, Calif.) in head coach Meghan Corvin’s signing class.
