FROM Mary Katelyn Cirese: First off, there are a few people I have to contribute the success of the auction– Blair Bergeson who started the monetary donation fundraiser which is currently at a total of $6,680. Link is here to donate.
Lauren Michelle Kelly helped manage the group page and made a wonderful logo and put together a flyer that was put up at the APHA World Show. Susan Scott Phillips helped collect items at the APHA World Show to be donated to Peggy and hand delivered them to her.
The Knaus Show Horses Benefit Facebook auction was started Friday, October 25, evening of the day of the fire. The support and response to the auction was incredible. We had reached over 1,000 members in four days and my phone literally did not stop for those first four days. Donations and auction items came pouring in and people were sending their condolences, thoughts, and prayers from all over.
I have had many people ask me how I was able to get such great donation items as well as breedings to the top stallions in both AQHA and APHA. My secret? There is none. I never asked anyone specifically for anything because I didn’t want anyone to feel obligated to make a donation. I wanted people to donate items because they felt compelled to help.
I cannot thank everyone enough and show them how much they were appreciated, even if all they had to offer were thoughts and prayers. The support from this horse community has been truly amazing and I have had the privilege to meet some amazing people, whom I probably would have never come in contact with.
Peggy is hoping to have her new barn up by Spring so she can bring her beloved horse, Nike, home and continue with her training program. She is slowly rebuilding her lifelong collection of tack and supplies. People can contact me or look on the Knaus Show Horses Benefit group on Facebook for a list of items needed.
The calculated total for the auction alone is $16,725.
Current total from the monetary donation is $6,680.
