Bonnie Sheren Purchases Congress Champion Sudden Persuasion

Amateur Bonnie Sheren of Studio City, California is excited to announce the purchase of 2012 Congress Western Pleasure Champion, Sudden Persuasion (Percy). “Thank you Charlie Cole and Jason Martin for finding him for me and thank you to my great friend, Harriet Yakatan, for your support and encouragement!” says Sheren about buying Percy.

Sudden Persuasion is by RL Best of Sudden and out of Pleasure Persuasion. The 2008 chestnut gelding was the 2012 Congress Champion in the NSBA Maturity $10,000 Limited Horse Open Western Pleasure Stakes with Laura McAllister.

“I will miss everything about Percy,” says former owner April Wooster. “The feeling of floating when riding him; always feeling safe and secure in the saddle. He was a dream come true thanks to Laura McAllister. I had always wanted to show on the quarter horse circuit and she helped me find him. They taught me what it was all about.”

Sheren tells GoHorseShow that she had been thinking of getting a horse to do the western pleasure and mentioned to Jason Martin and Charlie Cole to be on the lookout. “I was literally on my way to the Congress to watch my friend, Harriet, show and got a call saying they had a horse for me to try,” Sheren recalls. “Within about an hour of getting there, I was in the overhang trying Sudden Persuasion.”

Bonnie continues, “I fell in love at first sight but the clincher was that he was so quiet and very smooth to ride. Horses were coming at us from all directions but none of it bothered Percy at all. He just seemed like a happy, mellow horse. Of course, it didn’t hurt that he was also a phenomenal mover.”

Percy will be under the supervision of Highpoint Performance Horses while her other two horses will remain with Kerri McKay. Next year Sheren plans to show Sudden Persuasion in the Novice and Select Amateur Western Pleasure, while Charlie and Jason will also be showing him in the Green Trail and finishing him in the western riding. “I’m thrilled that his former owner April Wooster and trainer Laura McAllister agreed to let me purchase him and I’m so excited to see what we can do next year!”
