WCHA Breeder’s Championship Futurities Info

We’d like to take this opportunity to inform you of some of the activities we have planned for the World Conformation Horse Association Breeder’s Championship Futurities, to be held September 20-22 in Tunica, Mississippi. We are again thankful to the Big Money Futurity group for allowing us to hold our event in conjunction with their very successful program. This partnership has proven very beneficial to the participants of both futurities to travel to just one site in hopes of getting a piece of over $300,000 in prize money. See www.bigmoneyhalterfuturity.com for more information regarding their event.

Thus far all of our futurity classes have seen over 20 percent increase from 2012, with additional entries arriving daily; for example, approximately 50 babies are entered into each of the colt and filly futurities thus far. We will again split these two divisions into junior and senior classes according to birthdates. Each futurity has a non-pro division, so we encourage you to “show your own” again this year. The yearling and color classes are also up in numbers. It’s not too late to enter your weanling or yearling; the next payment date is August 15, so download the entry form.

AQHA Special Event For Halter Horses Only

The AQHA special event for halter horses only at the WCHA Breeder’s Championship Futurities will feature two judges, meaning two sets of points for open, amateur, youth and performance halter. Two AQHA shows will be held on Friday and Saturday along with the WCHA Futurity classes. (All of the Big Money Futurity classes will be held on Sunday.) We’re expecting the AQHA shows to be “huge,” so this would be great opportunity in getting your qualifying points started in a big way for next year’s world shows. If you don’t have a futurity entry you can still participate by bringing older horse(s) for the AQHA show.

Champion of Champions Competition

This will be a very prestigious award at the WCHA Breeder’s Championship Futurities because of the magnitude of the event. All Grand Champions, plus the futurity champions in the weanling colt/filly classes are eligible for competition.

Same Owner/Breeder/Exhibitor Incentives

We feel it is important to recognize those participants that “breed and show their own,” so we’ll run these classes within the existing weanling futurities. Very nice sterling silver Gist Buckles will be award to the highest-placing entry in each junior and senior weanling class, plus paybacks. The entry fee is $100, all fees added back, and you can enter at the show. The amount of added money will be determined after we know how many horses are entered.

Produce-of-Dam Class

After the success of the Get-of-Sire Class at last year’s AQHA World Championship Show, we feel it’s just as important to recognize the mares, as well as the stallions, in our breeding programs. In a Produce-of-Dam Class, two offspring from one mare compete as an entry. Offspring can be of any age, any sex. This is also an AQHA-approved class, so results will be of permanent record on the mare’s show record. The entry fee is $100, plus AQHA class fees, if the entry is received by September 1; after that date, until night before the class, the fee is $200. American Paint Horse Association and Appaloosa Horse Club entries will be accepted, but not counted in the AQHA portion of the class. Having this class at this event will be a “testing ground” to see if it can be included at the AQHA World Show.

Stalls and RV Reservations

No sponsorships are necessary for preferred stalling! After much discussion, the committee determined that it was important that all members of this association have the same opportunity to get stalls that might be considered premium by being closer to the arena, or closer to the RV spots. Stalls can be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. The RV spots that are right next to the arena and so convenient will be a little more than the spots that are in the RV park. Download the stalling form from the website or call/email Jennifer Sheriff.

Stall Rates: Thursday night through Saturday night is a flat rate of $110 per stall, extra nights is $20 per night.

Shavings: $7 per bag (WCHA does not receive any monies from shavings). You are allowed to bring your own shavings.

Download the stall/RV reservation form here.

Early arrivals, you can get into your stalls as early as Tuesday!

Host Hotel

Dawn Causey has secured the Gold Strike Casino as the host hotel, with a special room rate of $49 during the week and $89 for the weekend. When making your reservations you must tell them you want the WCHA horse show rate. Call (888) 245-7829 before the cut-off date of September 3.

WCHA Get-of-Sire Class at AQHA World Show

After the overwhelming success of last year’s competition, AQHA is giving us the opportunity to showcase our halter stallions, and their get, at the World Show again this fall. We will accept 15 entries on a first-come basis. So that all stallion owners have the same opportunity to enter, we will not accept entries prior to 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 5. All stallions nominated to the WCHA Breeder’s Futurity Program are eligible. Entries must be faxed to Jennifer on official form with credit card payment. Thank you, Judson Pigg and Sundowner Trailers, for sponsoring the class again this year!
