The judges are set for the 2013 American Quarter Horse Association Novice championship shows.
Slated to judge the SmartPak AQHA West Novice Championship Show, October 2-6 at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, are:
- Wilma Holcomb of Madera, California
- Andrea Simons of Aubrey, Texas
- Cindy Chilton-Moore of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
- John Dean of Whitesboro, Texas
- Karen Watters of Powell, Ohio
- Jennifer Thompson of Reno, Nevada
The Nutrena AQHA East Novice Championship Show, October 1-6 at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, will be judged by:
- Joe Carter of St. George, Ontario
- Bonnie Miller of Morrisville, New York
- Carla Wennberg of Laurinburg, North Carolina
- Tom Crowley of Kellogg, Minnesota
- Dave Denniston of Mead, Colorado
- Rebecca Halvorson of Guthrie, Oklahoma
“Each class at this year’s Novice Championships will be judged by three judges to determine the final placing,” said Patti Carter-Pratt, AQHA executive director of shows. “At the inaugural championships, each class was judged by two judges. AQHA received feedback from its exhibitors, encouraging the Association to add an additional judge for each class. We listened to exhibitors, and we’re looking forward to the impact this will have on the show.”
Carter-Pratt also said many AQHA judges were quite eager to judge this year’s Nutrena East and SmartPak West Novice championships.
“There was a lot of excitement on behalf of AQHA judges last year over the inaugural Novice Championships,” Carter-Pratt said. “Before last year’s event even kicked off, AQHA had heard from judges who were more than willing to be there for the 2013 event.”
National qualifying for the 2013 Novice Championships ends June 30. Visit www.aqha.com/novicechampionships to check the national and state/provincial qualifying methods. Qualifiers will be notified by email of their qualification, so exhibitors are encouraged to verify that their correct contact information is on file with AQHA.
