AQHA Incentive Fund Checks Mailed to Recipients

AQHA Incentive Fund checks have been mailed to stallion nominators, foal enrollers and exhibitors. AQHA appreciates everyone’s patience with the delay due to the database upgrade and the support exhibitors have shown with the recent changes.

For the 2012 show year, roughly 11,000 more points were earned by all Incentive Fund horses than in 2011. That’s a result of more classes, more exhibitors and more opportunities to show. With changes to the program, the dollar per point values to stallion nominators, foal enrollers and exhibitors are more than they would have been, meaning all groups benefited from the changes that took affect.

With the changes, here’s how the fund was calculated for 2012:

Stallion Nominators and Foal Enrollers

First, points earned by all Incentive Fund-enrolled horses were determined for stallion nominations and foal enrollments. Points are paid to stallion nominators and enrollers of foals regardless of whether license fees were paid by the current owner. In 2012, 138,420 points were earned (up to the cap of 200 points per horse) by nominated foals. The value of the fund was $2,296,520, which gave an overall dollar per point value of $16.59. Fifteen percent of $16.59 is paid to nominators and enrollers, an increase of 5 percent from previous years, which came to $687,669. The check for stallion nominators and foal enrollers is separate if they also earned funds as an owner/exhibitor.

Licensees

In 2012, horses that paid licenses earned 109,641 points (up to the cap of 200 points per horse). After paying stallion and foal nominations, that left $1,608,850. License fees, 100 percent of which was paid to exhibitors, amounted to $388,800, and racing challenge enrollments were $2,000, bringing the available amount to those who paid licenses to $1,999,651 and a per point value of $18.23.
