COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Georgia Bulldogs are back at the top of the NCEA coaches poll, narrowly edging Auburn to reclaim the No. 1 spot. The Tigers led the way with seven first place votes while Georgia received three, and Fresno State received one.
Georgia has won three in a row and six of its last seven to take the top spot. Since losing at Texas A&M on March 1, Auburn has picked up road wins at Baylor and TCU.
Oklahoma State maintains its spot at No. 3, as the Cowgirls went 1-1 since the last poll, edging South Carolina in a tiebreaker and losing at Kansas State. The Wildcats snapped their three-meet skid with home wins over South Carolina and Oklahoma State, helping them move up four spots to No. 4.
Texas Christian moves up to No. 5, giving the Big-12 three schools in the top-five for the first time this season. The Horned Frogs defeated Delaware State and Sacred Heart by a combined score of 30-4 to help them move up two spots.
After road losses at Kansas State and Oklahoma State, South Carolina falls two spots to No. 6. The Gamecocks are currently 6-6 and have lost six of their last eight meets. Baylor drops two spots to No. 7, while Texas A&M also slides two spots to No. 8.
South Dakota State moves up one spot to ninth, and Southern Methodist makes its return to the top-10. Despite receiving a first place vote for the second straight poll, Fresno State was left off of seven coaches ballots, ending the Bulldogs two-week run in the top-10.
The collegiate coaches competing under the National Collegiate Equestrian Association umbrella initiated the national poll. The next and final coaches poll of the season will be released on April 3 at Noon ET.
