COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina redshirt junior Johnna Letchworth has been named SEC Co-Horsemanship Rider of the Month, it was announced today.
Letchworth was 3-0 for the Gamecocks during the month of February, picking up MVP wins vs. No. 1 Georgia (Feb. 2) and at No. 2 Auburn (Feb. 14). In her victory over the Tigers, she set the SEC single-season record with a score of 80.5
“This is a big honor for Johnna and something she is certainly very deserving of,” South Carolina head coach Boo Major. “Her record since she’s been here speaks for itself, and she has been a great leader for our Horsemanship team.”
Letchworth becomes just the third Gamecock equestrian to earn SEC Rider of the Month honors this season. Sophomore Amber Henter and freshman Kelsey Urban both picked up Rider of the Month awards in November.
Letchworth is 6-1-1 this season with two MVP’s. She has a career record of 35-6-2 with 11 MVP’s.
The Gamecocks close out their home schedule on Friday, when South Carolina hosts Delaware State at 1 p.m. in Blythewood.
