At the 2012 AQHA World Championship Show,
I interviewed Dan Carlson for his Journal
Winning Run story after he won the showmanship championship with his
sweet mare Are You Charlie, aka “Emily.”
Afterward, Dan’s longtime coach, AQHA
Professional Horseman Gretchen Mathes, pulled me
aside and said, “You’ve got to see this video.”
It’s of Emily, at a horse show, deciding she needs a treat from the tack
box. Very ladylike, she selects one at a time, then looks for another
kind.
