Rodrock Candids Q12 Championship Aachen, Germany

The AQHA Q12 International Championship Show was held in Aachen Germany from October 19th through the 28th. The show was held at the famous CHIO Aachen, known for the 2006 World Equestrian Festival.

“It was a fun show with perfect sunny weather for most of the time,” says competitor, Leonie Behrens.

Multi-carded judge, Gretchen Mathes, who just got back to the United States from judging this show says that it was a great experience.

“The show was really run very well, and I was very impressed with the quality of the horses at the show,” Mathes said.

Leading German rider, Sophie Schonauer, told GoHorseShow about her experience at the show this year. “I had the chance to watch all my horseshow friends riding at the Q12 German Championships in Aachen as a completely relaxed spectator. After a perfect show season, I decided to start my horses’ holiday season one month earlier than usual and went to Aachen without a trailer,” Sophie says. “I totally had a blast meeting all my friends there, and I saw a lot of good rides. All of us at Team Leckebusch cheered for DJ, aka Double Goodness, a four year-old bay stallion by A Good Machine, who won the Junior Hunter under Saddle with my trainer Linda Leckebusch aboard.”

Sophie adds, “All in all I spent a great time eating too many crepes and croissants, watching classes in the famous open air dressage stadium and exchanging news with the horse show world. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone again next season!”

As well as the regular AQHA classes, they offered NRHA, NCHA, NRCHA, NSBA and EWD events plus futurity and maturity competitions.Exhibitors looked forward to exciting competitions, where the riders won cash and prizes worth a total of more than 100,000 euros. The judges for the show were Gretchen Mathes, Leo Fourre, Hansi Kuhn Jr, Mary Ann Willoughby, Butch Carse, and Janette Steffl.
