Dear Stallion Owners,
First of all, a big thank-you to all of you for enrolling your stallion into the WCHA Breeders Championship Futurity. The Futurity Committee knows the challenges that you as Stallion Owners face in your efforts to sustain a successful breeding program in a struggling economy. We are always exploring ideas to make this more than “just another futurity program”. With that purpose we’re providing you an event to put your stallion in the “spotlight”…. an opportunity for you to showcase your breeding program. We’re offering a Get Of Sire Class that was so prestigious to win “back in the day” when stock shows were so popular. With the support and co-operation of Don Treadway, Tom Persechino and AQHA’s Executive Committee they are allowing us to hold this class during the AQHA World Show in Oklahoma City, OK on Friday, November 19, 2012 immediately following the Open Aged Gelding class.
Each stallion’s entry consists of three horses, of any age or sex. The horses that represent each stallion do not have to be owned by the stallion owner and do not have to compete in any other class at the World Show, however, they must have “qualified” for one of the four 2012 World Show competitions, the Open-Amateur-Youth or Select. If you’re using weanlings to fill your entry they are exempt from this rule. We can only accept 14 stallion entries to fit them into the arena safely, (3 x 14= 42 horses). We want to give each of you ample time to get this information and then an equal opportunity to enter so we won’t take any entries before 10:00am CST on Thursday, September 6th.The first 14 calls/faxes received by our futurity secretary after 10:00am CST with credit card payment. We expect all fourteen entries to be filled within the first hour so don’t put this off until the next day or you’ll likely be too late.

Those stallions that are accepted must provide a “quality” photograph, or professionally designed page of advertisement, that we’ll run on the “Big Screen” throughout the class. What better way to advertise your stallion prior to the upcoming breeding season in front of an audience filled with mare owners!! To create more crowd involvement and generate excitement we’ll use a judging system that allows the spectators to text in their individual selections that will be used in the final tabulations. See the attached entry form for details on how the class will be judged and the criteria that judges will use to place the class, etc.

Thank You Carl Ragosta, Director of Operations, for your support of our association.
Purse Distribution: $5000.00 from World Development Group plus $500.00 per entry will comprise the purse. The purpose of the class is to make the average horseperson aware of the positive traits of good conformation while providing you a stage to showcase your stallion. We want every exhibitor that shows in this class to receive an award that is of high quality, the cost of those awards will then determine how much is left over for prize money. We want to recognize the top 3 placings with Gold-Silver-Bronze trophies and estimate that we can pay out $3500 for 1st place, $2500 for 2nd place and $1500 for 3rd place. Only the top three placings will be announced, or posted, therefore the remaining 11 entries will leave the arena with equal ranking. Due to the fact this class is held during an AQHA sanctioned event, all horses are subject to random drug testing.
This is a tremendous opportunity to not only showcase your stallion but you can do your part in showing the public that halter is a viable and growing part of the Horse industry. Let’s fill that coliseum up! Get your stallion entered on September 6 and then work on getting the three best horses for your entry. To assist you in this process, entries have until 6:00pm the night before the class to name the three offspring. WCHA will inform all entrants of the time and place to submit your entries.
Thanks also to Peter Confrancesco for assisting Luke and Don in getting this class on the schedule.
