Apply for Paid Spring Internships with APHA

FORT WORTH, Texas—College students and recent graduates with a special interest in Paint Horses or breed associations are invited to apply for any of three paid spring internships in the performance, graphic design or editorial departments at the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) in Fort Worth, Texas.

APHA is a breed registry that collects, records and preserves the pedigrees of American Paint Horses. The registry also creates and maintains programs that increase Paint Horse value and enrich member experiences with their horses, in addition to providing show and sale coordination, public relations, information dissemination and administration services.

Spring internships are available from January to May 2012, and are paid positions. Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2012. Each intern will be responsible for transportation, room and board while working for the Association. Primary activities will vary between departments; however, interns will take on special responsibilities for spring events hosted by APHA as well as preparations for the AjPHA Youth World Championship Show.

The performance intern will be responsible for award preparation, facility arrangements, show preparation, coordination of events during the AjPHA Youth World Championship show and projects related to the Youth program. Preference will be given to individuals majoring in animal or equine science or agribusiness.

The editorial intern will write and photograph for the Paint Horse Journal and Paint Horse Connection magazines, and will be responsible for writing stories for the internet.

Candidates should have a strong understanding of journalism, photography, equine industry and horses.

Summer internships are also available for the performance, graphic design, editorial and marketing departments each year from May to August. Application information will be available on apha.com/jobs.
