Ted Turner Moving Training Operation to Jay Star Ranch

Multiple World Champion halter trainer Ted Turner will be moving his entire training operation to Jay Star Ranch located in Pilot Point, Texas. Turner will officially be taking over Candace Jussen’s ranch on June 1st. Turner will be remodeling, adding stalls, and expanding the show barn. He will also be moving into the residential home on the ranch. Until now, Turner has been working out of Terry Bradshaw’s Circle 12 Ranch located in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

“Terry is having a dispersal sale and selling some of his stallions, mares, and foals,” Ted Turner told GoHorseShow. “He is keeping CK Kid who is a World Champion Stallion and Multiple AQHA World Champion sire, but he is selling his place and buying a smaller farm and cutting way back on his horses and breeding.”

Turner adds, “Candace and I have been great friends for years and it seemed like a great opportunity for both of us. I will be taking all my current horses with me as well as still training for the public.”

Jussen jumped at the chance of Turner coming to her place because she was looking for a way to spend more time on her new project, Candy’s Cowboy Cabins, located in Fort Worth, Texas. It is unique and casual lodging for horse show exhibitors that is located across from the Will Rogers Arena. The beautifully remodeled units available are kid and pet friendly. Jussen will be adding several more cabins in the near future.

“I was ready to make a change and I am absolutely thrilled that Ted is coming to my place. I don’t have to worry about anything because he likes to run a tight ship and will take immaculate care of the ranch,” Candace says. “I was ready to be out from under that much responsibility of taking care of a huge farm, and I can’t think of a better person than Ted to take over my farm.” Photo © Jeff Kirbride
