The MQHA Winter Spectacular show that was held this past weekend in Lansing, Michigan was a huge success with great numbers, judges and prizes.
“The weather was gorgeous and people were riding outside in Michigan in February in sweatshirts,” amateur exhibitor Tiffany Weitzel told GoHorseShow. “Classes were strong, with a four point green and open trail, four point youth showmanship, three point amateur showmanship, amateur and youth hunter under saddle, and a three point open reining–as well as a full slate of Small Fry classes with the largest being 14 in the Small Fry Western Pleasure!”
Friday was a single day show judged by Brad Luebben, and the Saturday/Sunday split combined judges were Elizabeth Haynes and Sherrye Johnson-Trafton. The total entries for Friday were 528 while Saturday and Sunday had an impressive 1186 total entries.
Saturday was full of events including a 4H benefit clinic with AQHA judge and clinician Sherrye Johnson-Trafton of Maine coaching on trail and flying lead changes. They also hosted a large tack sale where 150 vendors/resale booths sold various items and about 1800 people came through the sale. On Saturday night, MQHA had an exhibitor pizza party.
