Make Plans to Attend First $1,000,000 National Halter Show

As ten halter breeders gathered at Dallas/Ft Worth Hotel in December of 2010, they had dreams of creating an all amateur futurity with a level playing field for their exhibitors and giving out large cash pay outs, excluding any of the 10 stallion owners their families and employees. Within days of the meeting there was an explosion of enthusiasm and support from stallion owners, trainers and open exhibitors to add an open futurity. This lead to the formation of the open division of the Breeders Halter Futurity.

The BHF in 2011 with 10 amateur stallions and 27 open stallions fashioned up a horse show that was unprecedented. With the great success of the futurity in Des Moines, Iowa last September, BHF offered four weanling classes totaling $277,000.00 in cash pay outs. After the great success last fall the Breeders Halter Futurity has raised the bar even higher. After a vote from the open stallion owners, the open futurity was expanded to 50 of the nations finest stallions, thus showing the resilience, strength and unity of the halter industry.

2012 estimated purse will be in excess of $700,00.00 in eight classes for weanlings of 2012 and yearlings of 2011. The projections for 2013 in the amateur and open weanling, yearling and two year old futurities is estimated to be a staggering $1,000,000.00 (ONE MILLION DOLLARS) is cash pay outs. Owners of nominated foals are reminded to check the nomination schedule for their foals which can be found on the web site at www.breedershalterfuturity.com.

Introducing in 2012 at the Breeders Halter Futurity will be the inaugural National Halter Championship Show. These combined events taking place on September 18-23, 2012 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, making this the first $1,000,000.00 halter event in history. The National Halter Championship Show will also be the first of its kind to include exhibition of three breed registries in the show arena at the same time.

The horses entered in this show need not be by any of the BHF stallions, but must be registered with any of the three breed associations being American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association and Appaloosa Horse Club of America. Color breed registered horses will be accepted to show as long as they have corresponding papers with either AQHA, APHA or ApHC. Amateur and open classes will be offered in yearling, two year old, three year old and aged classes in all three sex divisions. The judging system for the National Halter Championship Show will be judged with the same format as the Breeders Halter Futurity.

Along with the Breeders Halter Futurity and the National Championship Show will once again be the Breeders Halter Futurity Sale to be held on Friday September 21, 2012. The sale this year will consist of 100 head of horses by or in foal to Breeder Halter Futurity Amateur stallions.

Breeders Halter Futurity and the National Halter Championship Committees are committed to making the events in Des Moines memorable, exciting and lucrative for our exhibitors. For more information on the shows and sales, please visit our web site at www.breedershalterfuturity.com.
