Legendary Stallion Finds Forever Retirement Home

After a storied show and breeding career, An Awesome Mister, found a forever home to live out the rest of his days. Taylor Hanes of Shelbyville, Tennessee offered a retirement home to a horse he has admired for many years.

“I’ve always been very intrigued that he has so much to offer conformation wise and yet he is a two-time Congress Champion western pleasure horse and produced so many great halter and performance horses,” Hanes told GoHorseShow. “We have been long-time fans, therefore, we are very excited about this purchase.”

Mister is sired by halter legend, Mr Conclusion, yet, he crossed over to the performance events and won the 1992 Congress in Junior Western Pleasure and the Congress Western Pleasure Maturity with Mike Moser. Mister is also a AQHA World Champion Halter Weanling Stallion, and he was the highest selling horse at the 1999 World Show when he sold for $227,000.

“With Mister being the sire of Vitalism, who produced multiple Congress and World Champion, Vital Signs Are Good, and being the sire of Pleasure N Passion, who produced World Champion and AQHA Superhorse, The Krymsun Kruzer– we think Mister will leave his lasting legacy as a broodmare sire,” Hanes says. At 23 years-old, Mister will now be semi-retired other than breeding a few select personal mares. “He really has nothing else to prove.” Hanes says. “While I was at Richland Ranch, I got to see Zippos Mr Goodbar, who will be 28 this year, and, both he and An Awesome Mister look amazing. They have taken such great care of these two stallions.”

Mister is an All Time Leading NSBA Sire with point earners exceeding 10,800 AQHA points and over $250,000 in earnings. “We are proud to welcome this already proven stallion, and, we would like to thank the crew at Richland Ranch for making this purchase possible.”

Taylor would like to thank Roxanne Nelson, Mike Moser, Dave Hickey, John and Sondra Narmont, Karen Boxell and the crew at Richland Ranch, and so many others that played a part in this stallion’s success.
