2011 Junior Trail World Champion Finds a New Home

All horse lovers have heard the saying, “All horses deserve, at least once in their lives, to be loved by a little girl.” Well, GoHorseShow is happy to report that the 2011 AQHA World Champion Junior Trail horse, Only Good Sox, has hit the jackpot. The 2006 red roan gelding, affectionately named Leroy, was purchased by 14 year-old Gina Hitchman of Livingston, California.

At the 2011 World Show, Leroy and his owner and rider, Lindsay LaPlante, surprised the horse show world when she beat out the big names and won the Junior Trail with an impressive score of 233.5. We wrote an article after her win, titled, Who in the World is Lindsay LaPlante, where she discussed that Leroy would be for sale after the World Show. Lindsey spoke to us about what she will miss the most about him.

“I will miss his goofy personality and how he always made the day a little funnier with his antics,” she says. “I’ll miss riding him and showing him, and just playing around with him in general.”

Hitchman who is training under the supervision of David and Cheryl Busick will be showing in the 13 and Under all around events and Leroy will be shown in the Senior events with David.

“I’m so excited to show him,” Gina told GoHorseShow. “What I love about him is that he tries really hard to be good, and he has a hilarious personality on top of being a really talented horse. I plan on showing him in trail, showmanship, horsemanship, and hunt seat equitation right away, and hopefully western riding if he catches on to it. I have my first show with him in two weeks and I’m trying to hit all of the youth qualifying shows that I can.”

GoHorseShow would like to wish this new team success and everyone look out for this duo at a show near you! (Pictured below, new owner Gina Hitchman)
