The 2011 Youth
Excellence Seminar, a/k/a YES, held annually in Amarillo, Texas might have been
the best one yet! The annual
gathering hosts American Quarter Horse Youth from across the country in order
to build teamwork and leadership skills as well as vote for your youth
executive board and national directors.
I am proud to say that my final duty as AQHYA President was a resounding
success!
After a rocky beginning to their show career, Marilyn Masterson and
Nothin But Jazz are on the road to reaching their full potential. This past week, this duo won the first ever Hylton Non-Pro Maturity
Limited Horse Western Pleasure class at the Little Futurity held in
Raleigh, North Carolina. They took home
a purse of $10,240.
World Champion trainer John Briggs of Pilot Point, Texas has been involved with horses the majority of his life. John and his wife, Jill, have developed a reputation for success with currently over twenty clients, and this husband and wife team have trained a total of 61 World and Congress Championships.
In light of the recent tornadoes and flooding that have destroyed many farms in the horse industry, GoHorseShow.com thought it would be nice to feature horse trainer, Amy Smith of Falmouth, Maine, who recently overcame tragedy in her life. Find out more about her inspirational story.
The Bavarian Championship show (Bayerische Meisterschaften) was recently held June 9th-14th 2011 in Kreuth, Germany. There were AQHA, NRHA, NSBA and VWB (open breed classes). Click here to view the candids from the show!
Simons Show Horses of Aubrey, Texas has an outstanding group of 14-18 youth ready for the APHA Youth World coming up later this month. Head trainer, Sara Simons, is well known for turning world and futurity champion western pleasure horses into outstanding all-around winners.
The Hylton Quarter Horses 3 and 4-year-old $1,000 Novice Horse Western Pleasure Slot class
was held at the Little Futurity in Raleigh, North Carolina on Monday
night. After two splits the finals were comprised of 18 talented
horses. Congratulations to winners Brian Baker and Only A Summer Breeze
for bringing home a check for $18,688!

On June 9-18th, The Tar Heel Triple Classic and A Little Futurity
came to Raleigh, North Carolina with an action packed futurity
featuring tons of prizes and money given away. This helped give
exhibitors maximum show time, and maximum fun. The "Tar Heel Triple Classic" is a Premier Circuit
combining the NCQHYA Show, the NCQHA Jamboree and the Little Futurity
for 10 full sets of points and 10 full days of showing.
