Like a fine wine, Super Select Dr. Tommy Thomas of College, Station, Texas, gets better with time. He has been to every Select World Show
since its inception nine years ago. This year, Dr. Thomas plans to show
veteran champion, Confirmed Legacy, in the Trail, Horsemanship, and Western Riding for the fourth straight year.
While at the AQHYA World Show, GoHorseShow was excited to
witness some amazing performances from up-and coming riders. In this
specific case, these young exhibitors also happen to be the children of
some of the top trainers in the country. We asked Kaylee Mellott, Klay
McDowall, Austin and Calyn Halvorson, Taylor Searles, Kaylee Rampey,
Shea Graham, and Deanna Green about their World Show
experience.
The European Championship of American Quarter Horses took place in Kreuth, Germany from August 12-20 and GoHorseShow.com has great candids and results. There were participants from over 18 countries including the United States. Between American judges, horses imported from the States, and recognizable faces from various issues of GoMag, you will recognize quite a few people in the candids. August…is it any coincidence that one of the hottest months
of the year is also the month with some of the hottest competition in the show
pen? August kicks off with the AQHYA World Show followed by
the NSBA World Show, the European Championships and the beginning of the AQHA
Select World Show. You can see all the players including some of the best International
talent in the August issue of GoMag.
The Green Pattern Class debuted at the 2010 NSBA World Show, but since it was a new class last year, many people were not aware it was even available. After the NSBA World Show concluded this past weekend, many riders were impressed with the potential of the class and its growing popularity. This year, the class was won by Bruce Vickery riding multiple Congress and NSBA World Champion, RL A Sudden Image.
GoHorseShow is saddened to report the passing of legendary youth horse,
Handee Rap at the age of 32 years old. This 1979 bay gelding was bred by
Mark Stevens and was out of Clabber Bar Gold and by Reynolds Rap. He
passed away July 7, 2011 and was owned for the past 10 years by the Hadlock family of
Goodlettsville, Tennessee. They are just now able to publicly talk about
his death.
The sixth annual NSBA World Championship Show
located in Tulsa, Oklahoma runs over five days from August 17-21 with a pay out in excess of $450,000 cash and prizes. Two AQHA Novice Championship shows will be held in 2012 for youth and amateurs. The Western Novice Championship Show will be September 21-23 at the South Point in Las Vegas, while the Eastern Novice Championship Show will be October 5-7 at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Lori Watkins, owner of Black Creek Crossing
in Hamilton, Indiana, is enjoying the success of the offspring of her
two fine stallions. Vested Pine and Pure Dynamic will stand again at
Cooper Stallion Station in Maysville, Georgia and their offspring are
continuing to do well in the show arena.
