Don't
worry, the deadline for the Congress issue of GoMag is not until
Friday, September 30th so you still have plenty of time to get your ad
into the biggest and most widely read issue of the year. GoMag has one of the
latest deadlines, some of the lowest prices and is one of the most
widely read publications in the horse industry.
Pine View Farm, home of Invitation Only and Lazy Loper, recently announced their "Buy From The Breeder" incentive. There will be $30,000 up for grabs at the 2012 Congress for Two Year-Olds that were raised and purchased from Pine View Farm.
Amateur Competitor Brittany Boyd and Dont Skip My Charms have
been successful in their show careers so far---but they have
unfinished business. Chester
had colic surgery in January, 2010 resulting in a slow recovery--leaving
Brittany feeling unprepared going into the Congress and World later
that year. However, in 2011, things are looking up for Boyd and Chester
and they have considerable momentum going into these two major shows.
A brand new Tennessee Quarter Horse show circuit was held this past weekend at the Roane State Expo Center in Harriman, Tennessee. The TQHA Circuit held September 15-18th is taking the place of the Holiday Circuit that was always held in December at Harriman.
The Ohio Quarter Horse Association has released the official class
counts for the 2011 All American Quarter Horse Congress, held October
7-30 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio. Entries were due on
August 25th, and preliminary numbers are now available.
World Champion trainer and Judge, Stephanie Lynn can also add the title of author next to her name. Lynn just finished writing a book, A Lifetime Affair, which is about universal life lessons that horses have taught her throughout her lifetime. Lynn of Fall Creek, Wisconsin, is a AQHA World Champion trainer and an AQHA judge who travels all over the world giving clinics and judging some of the top shows in our industry.
The 2007 bay stallion, Machine Made, has been burning up the campaign trail this show season. Under the guidance of Gil Galyean, he has added the western riding to his repertoire and has already started making a name for himself in this class. "The weather was a questionable at first, but it turned out to be great," trainer Becky Meadows said about the Rock Star Horse Show in Culpepper, Virginia this past weekend. "Due to the flooding in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania, they triple judged two days and gave everyone Friday to get there and prepare their horses. They also gave away $2,000, iPads and more! Looking forward to Rock Star shows next year."
Back in the 80's and 90s, the Mackenzie sisters, Michele and Heather, were leading exhibitors who competed on the AQHA circuit. When they showed, I was a young girl and remembered them being tall, blonde, beautiful…..and from California. When I think back, I clearly remember thinking that these sisters epitomized "cool" without even trying.
