Western Pennsylvania Quarter Horse Association (WPQHA) has enjoyed extraordinary growth at their AQHA
shows and GoHorseShow.com was there to bring you candids presented by
Hot Ones Only. Based out of their home facility
in Harlansburg, PA, the 2010 Memorial Day circuit boasted over 500
stalls
sold for
the 4 show event. I liken this show to the little engine that
could. With strong local support, the
numbers seem to be improving even in this difficult economy. Some of the top halter
exhibitors were on hand to participate in the extremely large classes,
including the performance geldings which topped out at 8 pointers.
Amateur divisions in general were also huge
including 6-7 point classes.
The horse community came together in a show of public
support for the Schwab family who were injured in a tragic truck and
trailer
accident a few weekends ago. Ohio
Quarter Horse, River Cities Quarter Horse, and WPQHA each had their
youth busy
selling raffle tickets to raise money for the on-going expenses that the
family
will incur both for medical expenses, and veterinary costs. It was a
wonderful show of solidarity on
behalf of participating associations and patrons purchasing tickets. Very
heartwarming!
Coming from as far away as Florida, the who’s who of
the horse industry showed up to enjoy this major event including Joey Shortino of Tampa, and AQHA Executive Committee member, Peter J. Confrancesco and his beautiful family from
New
Jersey. Our Canadian friends were on
hand too including AQHA professional horsewoman Patty Carter accompanied
by her
husband, and her awesome daughter, Paige.
A good time was had by all including a steak dinner and knock out
birthday bash for Lindsey Stephenson:-) Many
elected to layover on the grounds for a follow-up show this weekend
which looks
to be another terrific event! See you at the Burg!
Judges: Larry Hansch – IA, John Boxell – IL, Andrea Simons – TX, Bennie Sargeant – KY
