Dakota Has Candids and a Recap From Springfield

It might be called “The Winter Circuit,” but temperatures in the high 60’s sure brought out the “Spring” in everyone’s step as exhibitors flocked to the Champions Center in Springfield, Ohio for a premiere horse show event.

Check out the candids for corresponding pictures to everything I mention here!

Rip-Stiks ruled as the primary mode of transportation in and around the barns as exhibitors of ALL ages cruised in shirt sleeves and smiles. Even Congress Hottie, Brian Cox, showed up many of the younger set with his expert Rip-Stik skills over the weekend. If you don’t own a Rip-Stik, practice up ‘cause this is a “Must Have” item. Be sure to rock the helmet and knee pads…the show season is young, so we don’t need any accidents.

Speaking of fashion, Lane Smith look-alike, Jake Gigax was sure to impress as he looked “HOT” in a GoHorseShow.com green striped rugby. FINALLY, a guy got my memo on Facebook – you know the one; “He said it was me, or the dog, and I’m really ‘gonna miss him”. How many guys would have agreed to pose with my baby Chi, Bindi Sue who was his perfect accessory in her matching GHS sweater – LOL!

Good fashion was abundant in and out of the ring, so it was no surprise that “Good Ride” wear ruled, including the “Must Have” men’s vest for Spring. Maybe I just have cabin fever, but the guys looked great. Another trend which I started to notice for the guys at Congress were novelty patterned shirts in small geometrics, and textures, especially pique. If you have to ask what pique is, that’s what they make Google images for people 🙂 Whatever you do guys, think super HIGH quality cotton for your shirt fabric. Speaking of geometrics, I need to add a personalized “hat can” to my Must-Have list. Super talented exhibitor Sam Hagey was doing amazing free-handed designs on the hat cans of horse show royalty, including red-hot youth exhibitor, Molli Jacobs. Trust me, you have to see them to appreciate how cool! Look Sam up at a show near you.

The Pièce de résistance of the show had to be the amazing “double dragon” white and red show jacket that was just off the charts. Black western saddles also looked really cool, including for the ladies. If you don’t have one; don’t take a loan. Rumor has it that you can actually have your existing show saddle professionally “dyed” to update your look…. Disclaimer: Please, don’t try this at home!

As an Ohioan, I have to say that I was sad to learn at the show that Bruce Vickery is leaving the greater Columbus area to head to Sanger, Texas around May 1st. Bruce is a doting dad, who decided to relocate his highly successful training operation in order to spend more quality time with his kids. Hats off to Bruce, and continued success.

Nice finishing touches for the weekend included an awesome youth mixer sponsored by Ohio Quarter Horse, complete with karaoke. I feel like I need to send out a mass apology, because quite a few of you figured out that I’m no Christina Aguilera. Oh, well, Girls just wanna have fun – right? How about the CRAZY exhibitors party which would never have been quite the same without the “Good Vibrations” DJ service!!! Everyone had an amazing time, especially a particular “2009 GHS.com best Dressed Male Trainer.” If any of you are fans of that other “Dancing with the ….s” show, you ain’t seen nothing ‘til you’ve seen “Dancing with the Trainers”. For a small price, any interested parties can look me up at the next horse show, because I just happen to have the little video of the event that I promised I wouldn’t air on the internet…. Special note to the two male trainers who seemed to be having the best time on the dance floor, my video can go bye-byes for a couple months of free training…
