Congratulations to 69 year-old Denny Hassett, winner of the Ladies
Pleasure at the March To The Arch in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Denny “Mae” Hassett
was the unanimous winner under all three judges (Jeff Mellott, Leslie Lange and Andrea Simons). Hassett piloted Kash Flow, or “Jethro” as he was called Friday, who is owned
by Morgan and Debby Brehm of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Friday night, Hassett reminded people of the days when he used to rule the pleasure pen. “It was great. It felt like old times again,” Hassett told GoHorseShow.com after the class.
With very limited practice time, Hassett gave much of the credit to trainers Jeff and Windy Allen who prepared the gelding for the evening’s performance. “Jeff and Windy just got him perfect. I just sat up there and acted like I knew what I was doing!” he said jokingly.
It had been a long time not only since Hassett has shown, but since he had sat on a horse. “It’s been 20 years. I haven’t been on a horse in 20 years! I went to the halter stuff, I had a knee replaced, hip replaced and I just decided to cut back and do the halter.”

Congratulations Denny!
