Troy Oakley Discharged From Hospital – Tate Oakley Updates Condition

From Tate Oakley:

September 1, 2009
Dad was discharged from the Baylor Heart Center on Friday and ended up not needing physical rehab this week. His lungs opened up tremendously over the course of the week and his breathing is great. He will be able to move around after a month or so but most likely keeping it pretty slow.

Thank you the the doctors and nurses and the Baylor Heart Center in Plano, TX and to all of our friends, family, and customers that have stuck by our sides during this tough time. Your support and prayers have made the difference.

I would personally also like to thank Greg Wheat for taking the time to drive to Plano to be there for my mom and me. Greg is a great man, he and his family have been a great asset to our family and I couldn’t ask for anyone to be as honest, influential, and loving as the Wheat Family. Thank you so much.

My Dad has been at the Baylor Heart Center in Plano, Texas since Thursday, August 20. He thought he had a heart attack due to really bad chest pains, but come to find out, he had a tear in his aorta (that’s a major artery that runs behind your heart).

The Doctors did surgery immediately but only gave him a small chance to come out. (Not knowing the strong-willed and determined Troy Oakley!) The surgery lasted around six hours and went well. The Doctors say the reason that his aorta tore was due to high blood pressure.

My mom and I have been here at the hospital with him since Thursday night and he has made great steps to where he is now. Over the past two days, he has been moved from the bed to the recliner in the room so that he can start circulating blood better throughout his body. He is surely, but slowly, able to hold his own fork to eat and his cup to sip water.

My Dad is a very strong man and thanks to his decision to be fit and healthier over the past six months contributed greatly to him coming out of the surgery with great chances. I would like to extend thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of Baylor Heart. Updates will come as the week goes on and my dad continues to make improvements.
