APHA has announced its list of newly approved judges. The 2009 list consists of 21 names including two International judges. The list includes a few first-time card holders as well as many people who have cards in multiple breeds and disciplines.
One of the newly carded judges is World Champion trainer, Clint Fullerton. Primarily an APHA trainer, Fullerton has his AQHA judge’s card and chose to test in 2009 for his APHA card.
“The APHA and AQHA tests are pretty much exactly the same. Both breeds are putting a real emphasis on judges being talented in scoring systems,” says Fullerton. “However, I like the way APHA handles letting you know a lot better. I tested for my APHA card on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and they let me know on Thursday that I had gotten my card. AQHA makes you test in April and they let me know almost six months later.”
Scott Neuman decided after having his AQHA card for 13 years that it was the right time to apply for his APHA card. “We have been more active in the NSBA events where you can show Paints and AQHA and I decided it was time to become more active in the Paints,” says Neuman. “It was rigorous and a really good experience. I’ve already been asked to judge a Paint show already.”
