10 Things I Love and Hate with Beth Case

Our industry is full of many types of people with diverse backgrounds who all share one thing, a love of horses. But there is so much more than meets the eye to many of these people.

We asked multiple Congress and 7-Time AQHA World Champion Beth Case of Pilot Point, Texas to list the Top 10 things she loves and hates. This NSBA Hall of Fame rider also racked up the wins at the NSBA World last week with five NSBA World Championships and three BCF wins. Case is definitely opinionated with the sense of humor of a stand up comedian! Check out her answers below.

10 Things I Love

1. Good horses. Good horses make life easy and fun, but I also love some bad horses, too.

2. My husband, obviously, I mean we’ve been married for 15 years. He’s the best, and he puts up with me. I’m not as easy to handle as y’all might think.

3. Dancing! I love dancing–I will dance by myself, in a room full of people, with total strangers (as long as they’re good dancers). If I’m going to go out, I’m going out to dance, not to sit at the bar and drink, that’s boring. I don’t understand why every one doesn’t like to dance. It’s so much fun. So are trampolines.

4. Singing, I’m a terrible singer but most of you know that won’t stop me.

5. My friends, especially the ones that dance or sing with me, or let me sing while they drive the truck and trailer.

6. Texas–I’m from California. I’ve lived in Maryland and I’ve been to a lot of other places and I would never live anywhere else. I love everything about it–the people, the music, the land, the horses, the trucks, everything!

7. Texas country and red dirt music, it is the best! Of course I do still love Chris Ledoux, social distortion, the Beach Boys, George Strait, George Jones, Sublime, I guess I just love music. I have an old iPod and four iPhones that I keep in my car ’cause I don’t know how to get all the songs on just one.

8. Junk food–chocolate, ice cream, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, pizza, beer, anything with extra cheese. The only way I’ll eat a salad is if it’s covered in extra cheese and extra ranch dressing.

9. Pictures, I know I take way too many pictures, mostly of my dogs and horses, sometimes of my friends. They’re all over my house and my Facebook page, but I don’t care. I’d rather have pictures of people and animals I like and use them as decorations instead of paintings and things that don’t mean anything to me.

10. My job–I get to ride and show the best horses and be around the best people every day.

10 Things I Hate

1. Cowboy boots with dresses or shorts- it’s ridiculous! Okay, I had to wear boots and a skirt in a wedding one time, but it was at one of my best friend’s weddings and none of y’all better ask me to do it again!

2. The cold–I hate being cold. I hate having to wear three shirts, three sweatshirts and two jackets all at once.  I hate when it’s nice or hot outside and I go inside my house or a store and it’s freezing. I shouldn’t have to put more clothes on to be inside. If it was like 80 degrees everywhere all the time that would be great.

3. Drama, jealousy, liars, and people who are easily offended and people that can’t mind their own business. Also, laziness and people that are mean to animals.

4. Pasta, vegetables, and healthy food–pasta is slimy, vegetables are nasty, and I can’t think of any healthy food that I like.

5. Doing my hair–my everyday hair style is a hat and usually my going out hair style is a hat too. The only thing I know how to do is straighten it, which takes forever! Wash it, blow dry it, straighten it, brush it, who has time for all that? I hate putting make up on too, but I’ll do that more often than straightening my hair.

6. Driving, I hate driving, even to work which is literally two minutes away, I hate driving in traffic, hills, turns, bad weather, any time I’m not going straight and it’s sunny with no other cars on the road.

7. Wine, I can drink beer all night and liquor when dares are involved, but I can’t drink wine, except Boon’s Farms.

8. Cooking, if God wanted me to cook he wouldn’t have created fast food or microwaves. I saw that on a little wood sign, but it’s true.

9. Catching yearlings that aren’t halter broke and don’t want to be caught to begin with.

10. Selfies–I get it if it’s a selfie with your friends, everyone needs pictures with their friends, and a selfie with your horse or your dog, totally acceptable. But by yourself in your car, what? Why? Nobody cares that you’re sitting in the car by yourself looking pretty!
Thanks Beth for the great laughs!
