It was a great All-American weekend in Berlin, Germany on Sept 4th through the 6th. The third annual Berlin City Circuit was a huge hit. It was a great horse show, enjoyable for every level of rider and their horses – from rookie to weekend warriors. Everybody had a great time!
Sponsors from all corners of Germany and beyond helped to make the Berlin City Circuit Horse Show a resounding success. While the SCCH Arena provided a fairy tale setting for equestrian activities, the event’s VIP area allowed onlookers to watch in style. Around 100 guests enjoyed the matching “winners” dinner, and a delicious three-course menu. Equistyle magazine and flash-security were the sponsors of the VIP area including shuttle services, the interior design, and free magazine subscriptions.
“It’s a very exciting time for the German Quarter Horse Association,” said Gianni Matarazzo, a preeminent sport-horse veterinarian and lameness diagnostician for Olympic horses and other famous sport horses. “I was really excited to be part of the Berlin City Circuit, and I think that this is a great step forward into the future for us to be able to introduce more horse events to the general public.“
Competition continued on Saturday with Charleen von Kolpinski and Chips Hot Charleen winning the $500 Trail Class presented by Engel & Völkers, Berlin/ Potsdam.
Natasha Moller and Miss Lucy conquered the Western Pleasure $3,000 Ekedie Trophy, presented by Ekedie Show Clothing. “To be able to win today in Berlin was unexpected. We even missed our last ferry home, but I am very pleased tonight,” said Moller after the class who joined from Denmark and needed to cross oceans on her way home.
The Saturday evening competition at the Berlin City Circuit Horse Show marked another first for the event and introduced reiners to the streets of Berlin. This day kicked off with a $1,000 Reining and everybody was excited–both riders and spectators.
Alexander Koller and his famous Cowboy Del Cielo reigned victorious earning the SCCH Scharf Cheban Reining Bronze Trophy and was presented with a $500 rider bonus for the honor.
When the sun set over Berlin on Sunday, three countries had been represented and $28,000 in prize money had been paid out. Nice extra “carrots” like tickets for the Chamäleon theater, handmade wooden picture frames by the Rosewood Ranch, the special “horse meets bear” artwork posters and over 150 lovely goodie bags had been distributed including the BCC “bubbly winner” champagne in lovely cans. Everybody went home with a goodie bag, competitors and audience alike.
Happy horses and riders, great partners, especially our primarily corporate group of sponsors this year, all turned this into something very special this year.
