Multiple World and Congress Champion, Collin Froman of Wayne, Illinois, is closing out his final year of youth competition in a big way…on the June cover of GoMag. Collin just completed his freshman year at Indiana University, where he is already building a future beyond the show pen.

“I joined their Army ROTC program and was part of the cannon crew,” Collin says. “Every time our Hoosiers score, we fire the cannon. It was pretty cool!”

He joined the Indiana National Guard this year. “It complements my ROTC training with one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer of Guard Duty,” he says. “I had to ask to leave our two-week National Guard training a day early so I can fly into Oklahoma City the night before my showmanship preliminaries.”

After he graduates from IU, Collin says, “I will be a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and hope to branch Infantry.”

In the show pen this year, Froman is showing My Dream Remembered, better known as Hank, in Showmanship. He has one clear goal. “This is my last year in the youth division,” he says. “So, I just want to go out there with Hank and show better than in 2025.”

A major part of Collin’s horse show life has been with longtime trainer Jenell Pogue. “Working with her is very fun and enjoyable because we’ve been with her for as long as I can remember,” Collin says. “She’s family. Her husband and daughters are very close to my family and me. We vacation together and do a lot outside of horses.”

Collin has one minor complaint. “She makes us eat at a Mexican restaurant every time we go to a horse show, which I’m not a fan of because I don’t like Mexican food, but don’t tell her I said that,” he jokes.

The soon-to-be 19-year-old also shares the arena with his mother, Vanessa. “Showing with my mom is very fun because she is always there to support me when I show.”

Vanessa laughs about the timing. “I find it ridiculous that my son’s first year as an Amateur is my last year before Select,” Vanessa says. “How do we compete against these kids? I wasn’t a spring chicken when I had him!”

We wish Collin the best of luck in his final year of youth and in his future endeavors.
