In an industry where patience is the norm and early success is rare, Enticed, known as “Vance” to those closest to him, has delivered what most young stallions only hope: immediate, measurable impact.
The 2018 AQHA 16.2 stallion is by the late, great Its A Southern Thing, and out of the famous show and producing dam, Pretty Assets. Enticed is proudly owned by Deeds Family Farm.
From the beginning, there was little question about his potential. According to Amy Gumz of Gumz Farms, Enticed possessed the full package breeders hope for, but rarely find in one horse; presence, size, movement, and a disposition that made both training and management a pleasure.
“He always had the wow factor,” Gumz explains. “The look, the size, the movement, and paired with an impeccable pedigree, you certainly believed this could work.”
What followed, however, exceeded even optimistic expectations.
A Carefully Planned First Season
Enticed’s first breeding season was intentionally conservative and strategic. Only 40 mares were accepted, spanning Quarter Horses, Paints, and Appaloosas, with no pre-selection. The goal wasn’t hype…it was proof.
From that initial season came 31 registered AQHA foals, a strong foaling outcome that quickly began to validate the decision to test the market rather than flood it. The plan was simple: if the foals didn’t deliver, Enticed would be gelded and shown. Instead, his first crop did something few stallions achieve at any point in their careers.

Congress Results that Stopped the Industry
At the 2025 All American Quarter Horse Congress, Enticed had six AQHA two-year-olds competing – an astonishing representation from a first foal crop. Four finished Top Five, with Champion and Reserve Champion titles earned.
“To see that percentage of participation and success from a first crop is almost unheard of,” Gumz says. “Most people don’t realize that only about 10% of a stallion’s foals ever make it to the show pen, much less dominate the class.”
The comparison, Gumz notes, calls back to the early days of Invitation Only which is a benchmark few are willing to invoke lightly.
Consistency, Trainability, and Market Power
Beyond the show pen, Enticed’s foals are proving themselves where it matters just as much: in day-to-day rideability and market appeal. Breeders consistently report size, strong hocks, and an exceptional level of trainability which are all traits that translate directly to both amateur friendliness and long-term soundness.
“They’re talented, they’re nice to be around, and they sell,” Gumz says. “That combination is everything.”
Adding to his appeal, Enticed is homozygous black, a trait many breeders actively seek and one that further supports the demand for his get.
A Sire with Momentum and a Future
As confidence in Enticed grows, so does the diversity of mares coming his way. While his early success has been strongly tied to hunter under saddle prospects, Gumz sees expanding versatility.
“We’re seeing more all-around and western all-around mares, and I think he’s going to be a very meaningful addition to that market,” she says. “This horse has the right team behind him – owners, trainers, and breeders – and that support matters.”
After 35 years in the industry, Gumz doesn’t offer praise lightly. But, when it comes to Enticed, her assessment is clear. “I just can’t say enough about this horse, or about the public response to him. People are actively searching for his get, and that tells you everything.”
