About the Cover

Emma Edwards of Dallas, Texas, and Mouse Trapped (Tater Tot), are featured on the cover of the March issue of GoMag. This new team will be showing in Amateur All-Around events at all the majors this year, including the upcoming Sun Circuit in Scottsdale, Arizona.

“As a brand new team, I look forward to continuing Tater Tot’s and my journey and building a bond to succeed in the show pen,” Edwards says. “I am focusing on the Amateur All-Around events, and hopefully we will continue growing together. Learning how to balance my career in the tech industry and showing horses has been a transition – thankful I can still juggle both.”

Edwards purchased Mouse Trapped from Alexis Potts last August. Potts and Mouse Trapped were multiple Congress, NSBA, and Reserve World Champions. Edwards and her former horse, This Is Why Im Here, were Congress, NSBA, and AQHA World Champions.

Replacing This Is Why Im Here was no easy task, and Emma looks forward to competing with a horse as accomplished as Mouse Trapped. “I can’t thank the Potts Family enough for passing over the reins to me,” Edwards says. “I’ve watched Alexis show Tater Tot over the last couple of years and always admired what a wonderful team they made, succeeding in multiple events. He is so willing and has the sweetest personality.”

Under the supervision of Reid Thomas Performance Horses, Emma is excited about her new horse and training program. “Working with Reid and his team has been amazing. He is an incredibly thoughtful, kind, knowledgeable, and supportive trainer who has a way of pushing us to be our best. Reid’s guidance has been key in Tater Tot’s and my development, and I am excited for 2025.”

Edwards adds, “Tater Tot has a huge personality, making me laugh daily. He is talented in the pattern classes, and I’ve already learned so much from him and continue to do so each ride. Every horse has its personality and style, and Tater Tot is no exception. Over the past six months, I have enjoyed getting to know him and know we still have a road to travel together to make us the best we can be.”
