GoHorseShow’s Top Ten Moments of the Year for 2024: #1

The #1 moment of the year reminded us all how great our horse trainers are and why we all do this thing called horse showing. Here’s #1 and here’s to a great 2025...

It’s that time of year again. The holiday season is great for so many reasons. It’s a time of year for us all to reflect back and be thankful, for faith and family, for celebrating and giving. But, for GoHorseShow, it’s also the time of year for recapturing the top 10 moments of the year.

An annual tradition since we launched over 16 years ago, remembering the top 10 moments from the year is something we always cherish. For us, it reminds us what a great group of readers, customers, horses and team members we have. As is the case year-after-year, this year was filled with so many special memories and it almost seems impossible that it keeps getting better every year.

Thank you to everyone. We hope you enjoyed every moment as much as we did. And here’s to 2025 being the best one yet.

POV: Having Fun During Senior Trail Awards

Published on: November 15, 2024
Produced by: Keagan Phillips
They’re our horse trainers. They work tirelessly and wear many hats. They do so much to help make all of our dreams come true. Often a thankless job that many wouldn’t have the fortitude to do for a short time, let alone a lifetime. When all of the finalists in the Senior Trail at the AQHA World Show decided to let loose and have a little impromptu fun with the awards ceremony, it was a special moment, to say the least. In their ever-competitive nature, each trainer trying to outdo each other in their antics, they reminded us all how fun showing horses is and why we all do it. They’re our horse trainers and we can’t thank them enough. With over 1.4M views online, here’s the #1 moment of the year. Here’s to our horse trainers. And here’s to an amazing 2025.

How to Spot a World Champion at the Grocery Store

Published on: November 9, 2024
Produced by: Keagan Phillips
This one was super subtle, but IYKYK (that’s ‘if you know you know’ for those who don’t know). In all seriousness, when Kaleena Weakly made a trip to the grocery store, show clothes on and gold globe in tow, to get her horse ‘Cruiser’ some treats after winning a Word Championship, to say it was ‘epic’ would be an understatement. The combination of Kaleena Weakly (a loyal advertiser for over 16 years), plus the genius of Keagan Phillips (the best Media Manager ever), plus, of course, GoHorseShow’s amazing readers, was the perfect recipe to make this one the #2 moment of 2024.

Glover Galyean Partnership Announces Acquisition of Renowned Western Pleasure Horse Waffle House

Published on: October 28, 2024
Written by: Kristen Galyean with GoHorseShow
Whenever we announce a new horse and rider team, it’s big news. In fact, we lead the industry in new team alerts. The horse show world always wants to know. But, when the planets really align, and one of the great show horses changes hands between two of the premium players in the industry, it really makes a splash. That’s why, when the Glover Galyean Partnership announced the purchase of one of the most decorated pleasure horses in the business, Waffle House, from the Zuidema family, it sent shockwaves through the horse world. Enough to make it the #3 moment of 2024.

Show Horses for No Reason

Published on: October 23, 2024
Produced by: Keagan Phillips
If there’s one thing we always aim to accomplish at GoHorseShow, it’s to show readers how much fun horse showing is. Although this reel illustrated how frustrating show horses can be from time-to-time, it sure was a lot of fun to make. Allie and Maddie Rippeon made a lot of people laugh when they acted out some of the antics we, as horse lovers, put up with from our horses sometimes. So many laughs that it was popular enough to make it the #4 moment of the year.

The Unwritten Rules of Horse Show Etiquette – with Deanna Willis

Published on: May 3, 2024
Written by: Megan Rechberg
In this internet world we all live in, where everything is up for debate and public opinion, one thing we can all agree on is that having good etiquette at horse shows is imperative. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean everyone remembers to behave properly all the time. So, when leading non-pro exhibitor and horse show industry lifer Deanna Willis reminded us all how to act respectfully, readers sat up and listened. It’s refreshing to see, in this day and age, that a thorough reminder on safety, manners and simply not behaving badly, from one of the icons of the industry, was popular enough to be the #5 moment of 2024.

We Ask Exhibitors: What Are Some Fashion Trends You Hope to See More or Less of in the Show Arena?

Published on: May 6, 2024
Written by: GoHorseShow
Horse show fashion is a big deal. A very big deal. So much so that, for the last ten years, we’ve devoted an entire month to it. May has been GoHorseShow’s Annual Fashion Month since 2014 and readers clearly love it. The May Fashion Issue of GoMag is always one of the most widely-read issues of the year and much of our content throughout the month is dedicated to keeping you up-to-date on all the latest trends, both in and out of the arena. So, it should come as no surprise that an article with exhibitors discussing show pen fashion trends they love, and ones they wish would just go away, was popular enough to make it our #6 moment of the year.

Vickery Performance Horses Congress Stall Tour

Published on: October 23, 2024
Produced by: Keagan Phillips
Tips from trainers, funny interviews, judges’ perspectives, you name it – one thing we’ve always strived to do at GoHorseShow is give readers a behind-the-scenes look into the industry. Given your reactions throughout the last 16 plus years, it’s clearly what you want. So, it’s no surprise that when Anthony Montes of Vickery Performance Horses pulled back the curtain (so to speak) to give us an inside look at their stall setup at the Congress, it was popular enough to make it the #7 moment of 2024.

A Solid Win or a Colorful Conundrum: APHA Passes Rule to Eliminate the Solid Paint-Bred Showing Division in 2025

Published on: March 7, 2024

Nothing quite stirs up the internet like a good old fashioned controversial topic. And, although we try not to start the controversies, it is part of our job to report them from time-to-time. So, it’s no surprise that, when our Lead Journalist, Megan Rechberg broke down the details of APHA’s new rule on Solid Paint-Bred Showing, it was popular enough to make it our #9 moment of the year.

Thanks, You Too

Published on: August 17, 2024
Produced by: Keagan Phillips
We’ve all been there. Telling someone, “Thanks, you too” when we’re not really thinking, is something we’ve all done, but is never taken seriously. However, the popular social media trend showing what situations would look like if they actually came to fruition is always good for a laugh. And when Emma Brown and her new, non-horsey fiancé Tyler Krimm acted out what it would look like after he tells her to have a good ride at this year’s NSBA World Show, it was popular enough to make it our #10 moment of the year.
