Ohio native amateur exhibitor Emma Brown kicked off the 2025 show year in Florida. Brown will be showing Ur Ride has Arrived, aka Thomas. “He is such a sweet boy; he turned eight this year. We will be showing Amateur Trail and Horsemanship together. He will also do Senior Trail with Jennifer Paul,” Brown shared with GoHorseShow. “Our perfect old man, Brett is 18 this year, and he will still go to some closer-to-home shows to stay active, but I will be cutting back a bit for him. He deserves it. He’s given us more than we could’ve ever dreamed about.”
Brown and her two beloved geldings, Some Hot Potential (Brett) and Ur Ride Has Arrived (Thomas) were recently featured on the cover of the Congress issue of GoMag. Emma and Thomas recently brought home the coveted Congress bronze trophy in the Level 3 Amateur Trail. Emma and her two horses were also in the Top 10 Level 3 Amateur Trail at the AQHA World Show this past November.
“My two horses are both the light of my life. Upon graduation and starting to ‘adult,’ I found that horses are an outlet for me to enjoy. I love going to shows and the barn to spend time with them.”
Emma has been under the supervision of Judd and Jennifer Paul since she was ten. Emma and Brett won their first World Championship in 2018 at the AQHYA World Show in the Trail. They were AQHA Reserve World Champions in the Amateur Trail the following year. Another highlight came in 2021 when she and Brett won the NSBA World Championship in Amateur Trail after he had been off from an injury.
Emma and her fiance, Tyler, are also getting married this year. “Our 2025 will be nothing short of exciting. I look forward to this next chapter as an equestrian and wife!”
Many people in the industry know about Emma’s successes in the show arena, but we wanted to share some things about Emma that you may not know about her, outside the pen.
1. I was the cheer captain of my high school cheer team. I always loved cheering; it’s funny juggling showing, and cheering was always tricky, but my school allowed you to play two sports, so they let me put horses as my primary school sport, and cheer was secondary. I’m happy I did the typical high school experience and made many wonderful memories.
2. My family has a Harley dealership, so I grew up on a different kind of horsepower. I grew up around cars and Harleys; some people will still mention that when I first started showing, I wore a show jacket with flames and a Harley logo, and I even did a few ads with motorcycles in them. Maybe we should bring that back with “Ur Ride Has Arrived.”
3. I was president of my honors society in college at TCU. I loved my time at TCU; it challenged me athletically and academically. I made lifelong friends and impactful connections that have helped influence me in my professional and equestrian career.
4. I am a personal business banker, and my full-time career is I work in corporate finance for a bank, mainly focusing on business banking. Helping businesses achieve their financial goals and with all banking services. Basically a private banker.
5. My fiancé and I live on a lake and love to spend time on the water. When we’re not at a horse show in the summer, Tyler and I love to be out on the water. Even in winter, the lake is beautiful; some will even ice skate. I haven’t gotten brave enough yet.
6. I’m getting married this year. I’m marrying the love of my life right after NSBA World. We secured our dream venue, Nemacolin, and cannot wait to tie the knot. We’re simply over the moon.
7. I am girly. I love all things glam, shopping, and sparkle. This pairs well with showing and all the fun outfits and even hair and makeup. I have been soaking in all the glam and sparkles of being a bride.
8. I have been riding/showing for 20 years. I started seriously showing and riding when I was 5. It’s crazy to look back on all of the years of memories we have made. I had a pony at a very young age.
9. I started my love for horses through horseback riding lessons with my dad. When I was younger, my dad was looking for a fun activity he and I could do together, so we decided to do some horseback riding lessons. It was so much fun, and I continued growing and learning. About five years later, I started with Judd and Jennifer Paul and the rest is history.
10. I tried every sport I could in middle and high school – track, soccer, swim, basketball, volleyball, and cheer. Ultimately, I decided I needed to stick horses and a little cheer.
Thanks, Emma. Congratulations on your engagement and best of luck on all of your favorite endeavors!
