A new mother, the California native has been learning how to juggle having a young son and showing horses. Her son Maverick recently turned one with a Top Gun-themed birthday.

“He’s such a sweet and kind soul,” Samatha told us about her son. “He is a little shy, but full of so much personality.”

Maverick has traveled to Oklahoma City for the World Show, Vegas for the EMO Championship, Arizona for Sun Circuit and Pinnacle Circuit, and soon will be traveling to Tulsa for the NSBA World Show.

“He loves the horses. He loves to bounce on your lap while he ‘rides his Hazel.’ Hazel also is very much in love with him. I rode Hazel well into my eighth month of pregnancy, so I believe that they already have a strong bond.”

Samantha’s goal this year is to get her confidence back in the show pen, as well as trying to master navigating her new showing routine as a mom. “Getting back into the swing of things was challenging. Show clothes fitting differently, feeling a little rusty…especially in the western riding, but I feel Hazel and I are coming together stronger than ever.”

“I was really excited to win reserve amateur all-around at the EMO circuit this year. I’ve never been one to go for an all-around title since I only show in two to three events.,” Samatha shared. “However, after winning the Amateur Western Riding, Trail and Pleasure circuits, it gave us enough points to be in the running. That was really exciting and new for me. I feel like I need to pinch myself every time I swing a leg over Hazel. She’s truly incredible”

Foust adds, “I am thankful for the opportunity to pursue my passion. I put in a lot of blood, sweat and tears to compete at this high level, but It would not be possible without the support system behind me. My mom, my husband, my son and Tonya Brown, just to name a few. Last but not least, Hazel. The last four years of owning you have been a blessing. You’re truly a unicorn. I can’t wait to see you and Maverick in the leadline. Thank you GoHorseShow for supporting me. Never in a million years would I think I’d be where I am now and hopefully this journey will continue with Hazel’s babies. Stay tuned!”
