New Team: Lane Kail Purchases World and Congress Champion Battarang from Jessie Bartholome

Congrats to Lane Kail on the purchase of Battarang. Best of luck this year.

GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Lane Kail and the Kail and Farley families on the purchase of Congress Champion and NSBA World Champion Battarang, also known as “Judi”. The five year-old, bay gelding is by Batt Man and out of Lopin My Blues Away. This talented horse was started by Harley Huff and finished and shown by Houston Huff, who had a very successful 2021 racking up multiple top placings and several big wins in western pleasure. Lane will show in the Youth Western Pleasure events at all the majors under the guidance of Casey Willis Show Horses and Casey will show Judi in the Junior Western Pleasure.

According to Andrea Kail, “We spoke to Casey at the NSBA World Show about taking Lane on as a youth rider, since he would be going out on his own at the end of the year.”

“We were looking for something that would be competitive in the Youth and Junior Pleasure, but would also be able to move into the all-around classes eventually. Casey told us about Battarang and he fit that bill to a tee. We just loved how natural he is,” added Ryan.

Lane purchased Judi from Jessie Bartholome, who named this talented gelding after a dear friend, Judy Albers pointed him out as one she really liked. Judy passed away from cancer the same year she saw the potential in Battarang as just a young colt.

“The first time Lane rode him, we knew he was the one. Houston has done such an incredible job with him. We’re so grateful to him, Harley, and Jessie for the opportunity. Lane is having a blast riding and learning from Casey and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them all,” said Andrea.

Lane shared with us what makes his horse so special. “I love Battarang because he is really smooth and fun to ride. He is one where you let him do what he knows to do. He is a really good boy and he has a lot of personality for a horse, and that makes him more fun to be around. I am so excited for the next show and to see what happens later in the future,” Lane told us.

After a long and successful career as Head Trainer at Masterson Farms, LLC, Casey recently launched his own training business located in Ocala, Florida. This new trio is already off to a great start, winning the Circuit Championship in the Youth Western Pleasure with Lane at the Fun In the Sun Extravaganza and Reserve Circuit Champion in the L3 Junior Pleasure with Casey after just a few short weeks together.

Casey told us how he feels about this partnership, “Judi and Lane make an amazing pair. I really enjoyed watching Judi show all of last year and when we tried him out, I knew he was the perfect fit. He is so correct and absolutely the style of horse we wanted to find for Lane.”

Best of luck to Lane and all at Kail Quarter Horses and Casey Willis Show Horses with Battarang this year!
