About the Cover

Gracing the June 2021 APHA World Show cover of GoMag are Spot Lightt and Meredith Landy. Spot Lightt is a double registered 3-year-old gelding that Landy bought last November at the AQHA World Show. The gelding came from Rusty, Katie, and Deanna Green.

“They had had such success with him at the NSBA World Show in his two-year-old year,” Landy said. “I hopped on to try him, and he packed me around like an old, broke show horse. I immediately fell in love. It’s a rare thing to have such an instant connection with a horse, but that’s what happened with me and Spot Lightt.”

At the APHA World Show, Landy will be showing Spot Lightt in the Non-Pro 3 Year Old Western Pleasure and the Masters Jr Western Pleasure under his APHA registered name, ItsMe N TheSpotlightt.

Meredith will also be showing All Good in the Masters Jr Hunter Under Saddle and Non-Pro events, and her trainer, Stacy Huls will show him in Jr Hunter Under Saddle and Open Hunter Under Saddle Sweepstakes.

Landy is also bringing Shez Avant Garde (Grace), a horse she bought in her two-year-old year as a prospect. Raelyn Nakahara will be showing her in Green and Jr Hunter Under Saddle. Over Memorial Day weekend, Grace debuted in the show pen and won the Green Hunter Under Saddle circuit in Las Vegas. “She is offered for sale, so I hope folks will come to check her out at Paint World,” explained Meredith.

“And last, but of course never least, we are bringing my very best friend, Certified Stride (Sly). My daughter, Ashlyn is planning to show him in Showmanship and Hunter Under Saddle, and I’m hoping to show him in the Masters Western Riding and Masters Trail,” said Landy.

After Paint World, Landy is planning on showing at the NSBA World Show. “In terms of the future, we are hoping for great shows for the Paint World and NSBA World Show. I’d like everyone to get through the season safe and injury-free. After the world shows, I’m looking forward to adding more events with Spot Lightt and All Good.”
